Neither Rocco or Dino are barkers. They bark when playing and once in a blue moon will bark if they hear someone at the door. Usually tho, they just run to the door wiggling like crazy. For awhile, my husband worked the afternoon shift and would get home around 11:30pm. The dogs would be laying bed with me while I watched TV, snoring up a storm. I would hear my husband come in but those two monkeys wouldn't even stir. So it wasn't the case of them realizing it was my husband - they didn't even hear anything!!! So they're aren't the greatest of watchdogs.

I need to have some people over to test this theory. Maybe I will call the pizza delivery guy and see if that will actually get him out of bed!

Lily is a scaredy cat and barks at everything! Even her own farts! LOL One night about midnight, someone tried to get in my house. The only noise was the lever handle moving. Lily heard it and charged the door! I was soooo surprised! Usually she is behind me when a stranger comes near us. If she could have chewed through that door she would have! I opened the door and let Lily out, man she took off towards the back of the property like she was out to kill! She came back to the door huffing, puffing, and spitting all proud of herself. I was so proud too! Who ever it was sure out ran her. I can't imagine the state she was in that they would have survived if she got to them. LOL She got lots of love and treats when she came back.

She is still a scaredy cat. But now I know, she will step up when she needs to. Until then, she is quite comfy hiding behind my legs. LOL

I notice with our pup that if he hears a noise he does not recognize, he would growl. He hears the doorbell and he jumps up with excitement to see who is coming in. He loves it when visitors come by. What a wiggle butt!

Dixie isn't a barker. The only time we hear her bark is when she hears an unknown sound outside, and even then sometimes she only barley growls or just gets up to investigate. Most of the time if she hears someone coming to the door she'll just go stand or sit waiting for the person to come in or knock.

I think she growls/barks/whines more when she's sleeping and dreaming then any other time, lol.

My boy is not much of a protection dog and usually wants to greet and hug anyone and everyone that approaches us when we are walking. There was one time When I as walking him ( we walk pretty late at night) that we encountered some unsavory characters they were on the opposite side of the street. I was busy on my phone so I wasn't paying attention to Bourbon straining on his leash and letting out a low growl. By the time the guys (4 of them) were in the middle of the street, bourbon started to get massively aggressive, even raised his lips and started snarling. I was barely able to hold on to him. At this point I had seen the guys and made the decision that It was probably a good Idea to let bourbon do what he wanted. so I ran towards the guys will a 45lb scrawny boxer in full attack mode. and OFF the guys ran... Im sure if I had let go of the leash Those guys would have been torn limb to limb.

That was the first and last time I ever saw bourbon get aggressive. So I know he's quiet, small and usually submissive BUT when needed he will rise to the occasion and help me out.

The only time Deja barks is when she sees something on TV reflecting of the window. Poor thing... lol.

Roxi is a good watch dog. I highly doubt she'd inflict any damage on an intruder, but luckily enough we have back-up: Bandit and Lexi. Roxi is our alert dog. If she hears something going on outside that is out of the norm, we get the low, quiet growl-bark. Love that! It's not loud enough to tip off whatever is out there, but loud enough to get our attention. Knock on our door though and all bets are off!! She is full out, howling and barking ferociously like a crazy woman!

Charlie doesn't get up if I come home late or if the hubs comes home late. BUT if he hears something strange he will. Otherwise whats the point of getting up for his humans when he is perfectly comfy in bed? :) Also, he isnt really a barker unless our other dog barks at someone or something in the yard, he usually just does the huff and growl lol.
