Not a good day at the dog park, attacked

Tae is also a "space invader" and a pest at the dog park. She, too, seems to draw the ire of other dogs for no reason. She has been attacked at the local dog park 3 times. Once it was by a dog that was possessive over a frisbee. The frisbee should not have been there for that very reason. That attack left her stunned. On another occasion, she was playing with a Pit and another dog came over. When she growled at him to go away, he attacked her, sinkig his teeth into the side of her head. I did not notice until we were cleaning up to get in the car, but she had 2 puncture wounds! The third time, I did not see what happened, but her ear was bleeding.

My neighbor's dog does not care for Tae either. The first time they met, she tried to jump on him and he got upset. That was in Jan/Feb. Twice since then March? August? he attacked her for no reason. Of course, he was running around off the leash, something I have asked my neighbor to avoid, but she seems deaf to that request.

I have read that sometimes the smell of a dog will remind another of a negative memory and it will be aggressive. Perhaps that is somewhat of an explanation for some of the issues we have had?

I did make a mistake in not reconizing that this other dog, who was showing "I'm the man" aggressive tendacies would eventually butt heads with Cosworth, who has never started anything like that, but is COMPLETELY fearless and doesn't back down an inch when another dog tries to intimidate him. It was a recipe for trouble, but I was thinking more about giving Cosworth a good run instead of reconizing the situation.

Otis is the same way. He is the most friendliest dog and will play with anyone, but if a dog is aggressive toward him he will not back down and will stand up for himself. I don't advocate fighting in dogs either, but when Otis is in that situation, I'm glad he will stick up for himself and not just let him self be bullied by the other dog. He is so friendly sometimes a dog will snap at him and he will brush it off and still want to play.

Cosworth is the same way. Growling, snapping, and what not don't seem to phase him one bit. Its just when he's attacked he responds.

Yup, thats how Otis is. Snap or growl at him and he won't care, but attack him and he'll fight back. But, like I said, I think I'd rather he fight back and stand up for himself then lay there and let the other dog bully him.
