The BW community is very welcoming - even if you didn't have a boxer but just loved the breed- I"m sure they'd allow you to post and interact, etc.

My boy is a boxer/st. bernard mix (or I think he's really a dane/boxer mix cuz he's freakishly tall) but I still post a lot and take advice from everyone on here.

I've never gotten any crap for it ;)

Love this site! Welcome!

Dood

My 9 mth old dogs a boxer mix. i think he's 3/4 boxer, 1/4 american bulldog but from what im told they arent all that different genetically. he does have a slightly longer nose than most boxers but he's still beautiful :D Then we have Lily-Bear who's the same boxer mix. she's a bit more chunky than Dood but she more than makes up for that in her boxer attitude... the ''you WILL play with me'' one :P

What do you guys mean by points?

If you look at the very top of this page, there are three pictures of boxers. In the middle one, (directly over the words "Photo Gallery") the boxer is pointing. He is standing on three legs and pointing with the fourth.

Both of my boys point. I didnt know the term before now. Bentley's sister is a show dog and points. I have a picture of her doing it during last weeks play date. I think it is ADORABLE!

What does that signify? Why do dogs point?

Trained hunting dogs point to alert the hunter of the quarry ahead, whether it's ducks, rabbits, fox, whatever. They (dogs and hunters) will be thrashing along through the woods/brush/marsh, and when the dog stops and points, the hunter knows something is ahead.

well, but lots of dogs do the pointing. They just are not trained to know WHAT to point. :) I think pointing is instinctual in many breeds.
