Has anyone ever heard of dogs getting nose bleeds? Vezina's is 11mths old, this past weekend she was sleeping on the sofa, got up and played for a while, as she was playing her nose started to bleed. It stopped after about five minutes.

I took to the emergency vet clinic, and the vet said it was quite common, probably caused by her inhalling a foreign object like a blade of grass for example. He said that as long as it clots relatively quick and that it doesn't happen too often, that there isn't anything to worry about.

Now this is my first dog, but my wife has always had dogs and other dog owners I know have never heard of a dog getting a nose bleed!!

Has anyone else heard of this? Are these signs of a potential greater problem?

Thank you all for your help!!

The few dog nose bleeds I've had to deal with were because of foriegn objects...dirt, grass ,weed seeds and such. Scary aren't they?
