I think my wee girl may have body image issues! No matter how much she is fed, we just cannot seem to put weight on her. She is just over 1yo, lanky and pretty 'ribby' at the moment. She is getting fed two large meals a day, excercises an average amount per week but is lazy the rest of the time. She has NEVER been at a stage in her weight where ppl have commented on how 'good' she looks. Its always that "oh shes looking a bit skinny" or "is she fussy with her food?". Please dont think we make her starve, she eats EVERYTHING & ANYTHING..I dont want to let my partner give her Kentucky Fried but will I ever have to resort to pure fat to put some weight on her?!.

Is this normal for a 1yo old female (shes just had her first season)? Can anyone recommend a healthy but filling diet for her so she can fatten up a wee bit?

No need to resort to fatty foods to put weight on her (not good for her anyway). What you're describing is absolutely normal for a young boxer. They tend to put their energy into growing upward until around about a year old (and many are quite ribby), and then spend the next year or two filling out. So chances are, you'll find that by doing absolutely nothing different, she'll slowly start to gain in bulk over the next couple of years - after which you may find you need to cut her food intake somewhat ;)

Just do a search of the forums for the (litterally) thousands of threads here about weight. I'm sure you'll find that what you describe with your girl is absolutely normal ;)

My girl is still ribby and she's about to turn 2. I think she gained all of 3 pounds since January. She, too, eats really well. My vet said she looks great, so I just don't worry about it too much!
