I have to rant about something…
I'm searching the web right now trying to find a good "no solicitors" sign. We put a small one next to a "beware of dog" sign on our porch but it doesn't work. I want to get a bigger one that's not ugly. We get so many people coming to our door. It really causes a problem with the dogs because Trucker has a way over blown reaction to people coming to the door. Last night someone selling something knocked at 8pm! DH stood up and told him to leave through the glass and everything was fine but then he wouldn't leave and he stuck his hand against the glass to show DH a flyer and Trucker just went freaking NUTS! You can’t even imagine Trucker's reaction. He seriously turns into Kujo. One of these times he is literally going to break the window. He jumps 6 feet in the air to make eye contact with who ever is out there. And last night he hit the window so hard that he split his lip open and was going crazy at the door with blood on his face (which by the way scared the crap out of the person at the door).
We are working with Trucker and desensitizing him to the door bell and visitors. The training really works but we do it when we are prepared. And each time someone catches us off guard and he is able to practice this bad behavior it sets our training back 10 steps.
So I have to find a way to stop people from coming to our door. I know they are just doing their job and it's not their fault I have a dog that's out of control BUT I have the right to NOT BE BOTHERED at my home. I just think it's so rude. There will never be a religion that I want to join, or a candy bar I want to buy, I don't need to sponsor some kid so he won't join a gang, etc, etc…
