No muzzles for Boxers?

Thank you all for your replies. I'm not in a big hurry now getting her a muzzle, but would like to find one before I get my hardwood floors put in so I can keep her nails trimmed. She does not like her feet getting touched! Thanks again!

If there is a small (non-chain) pet store around, they may be able to help you fit one in the store before buying. Another option would be to call your local boxer rescue or boxer club, they would know which ones work the best for the breed. And might even have some extra time to help you fit one on your girl.

Also, I believe it is a very good idea to have all dogs used to crates and muzzles. You never know when one will be necessary and it would remove the extra stress from the dog if it does need to be used. And in emergencies (where you might need to use a muzzle) it would be beneficial to have a dog that is not "wigging out" over having the muzzle on as well. my 2 cents!

We touch and massage both Snoop and Dottie's feet, just like you, Joanne. We don't actually cut their toenails ourselves, but the vet's staff are happy that we play with the dog's feet!
Since most dogs don't like their feet touched, it can really pay off in the long run, to get them used to having their feet handled. It will cause less stress on the animal, when they get their nails cut, and a lot less stress on the tech that is doing the work! Snoop and Dottie don't need a muzzle for anything. If they ever come to a point in their lives, when a muzzle is necessary, well....we would cross that bridge when we got there. But not until then.

If this helps, I found a muzzle for Tre at Pet Food Express. I'm not sure if there is one close to you. The muzzle is size M, it has velcrow to adjust the size (roundness) of his muzzle, and it has a strap to adjust the head size.

Also, if you're worried about your hardwood floors being scratched. Don't worry. I was worried about the same thing when we got our pup. We have solid hardwood floors (honey pecan). I thought that I would always have to trim his nails. Not true. They don't scratch when they walk or put their brakes on. And to be honest, I've only cut his nails about 4 times. He's 7 months old now, and the last time I cut his nails was when he was about 4 months old. I do check to see if the nails need to be trimmed, but they don't. :confused: I guess he files his own nails down when we go on our daily walk/runs.
