No more sleeping on the bed

Well dh and i decided that we need to start working on the babies sleeping on the floor on there own beds. Its starting to get really cramped in our king size bed now that Choppers getting bigger. So last night we went and bought 2 really nice beds at the store and we decided to give it a try and boy did i feel so bad for my babies, everytime they jumped on the bed to go to sleep we told them off and a couple of times we had to nudge them off. Chopper went under the bed and Harlie did about 20 circles till she finally crashed on her bed and let out a huge sigh. This morning i found my baby boy laying on the floor next to my side of the bed with his head on the pillows, wow did that break my heart. Has anyone had to do this with their babies? Is it ok to let them sleep with us once in a while or is that a no no? I just feel so bad for them but we really need a good nights sleep.

Yes me & DH had to do this with Lola. She still continued to jump on the bed so we made her sleep downstairs and do you know what she didn't whine or anything, we gave her a kong with peanut butter in it (we felt guilty at kicking her out, ) now she'll happily take herself off to her bed when she gets tired about 10 ~ 10.30pm.
Occasionally we let her come upstairs for a night every so often and we've never had any problems the next night when she has to stay downstairs. We still give her a kong as it's become a little late night snack before bed for her

I can't imagine sharing your bed with dh & 2 boxers!!! I share my queen-sized bed with my 1 boxer and I feel cramped! Your story is heartwrenching though because you can't tell them they're bed-hogs - and so they just don't understand. But you owe it to yourself to get a good nights' sleep. At least the puppies can catch up on sleep during the day.

Yes, my husband I decided that Rocky needs to sleep in his own bed too. He just takes up too much room and I'm a light sleeper and I can't get any sleep between Rocky and my husband both snooring. At least I can nudge my husband and he'll stop, but Rocky on the other hand will snore the night away. I feel bad because we have to shut our bedroom door to keep him out. He has a bed but chooses to sleep on the couch. We put a blanket on the couch and he'll sleep on that. We're hoping he'll get used to the blanket and we can move it to his bed later and then he'll sleep in his bed. It makes me sad too, but I need my sleep.

After two years, I just recently decided to banish Tae from the bed. I loved cuddling with her and feel awful, but I was tired of the dog hairs on my sheets. Since it's still cold, I went out and bought a "throw" sized electric blanket. I put it on top of Tae's bed and turn it on when I start getting ready for bed. She loves it. The downside is it turns off after three hours and, if I don't get up to turn it back on, she ends up on the bed. Soooo, I've been getting up and turning it back on every night. Sometimes I think I'd like to join her on the nice warm blanket!

How about putting Choppers bed right next to your bed (where the pillows are) Then after he gets used to sleeping on it you can slowly move it to where you want it

We had to do this when Cadence was alive, although she didn't deal with it too well, and usually climbed up into bed anyway! Colby and Skye have their own beds, and usually stay there. Colby might sometimes start in bed with me b/c I go to bed earlier than DH, but then he usually jumps down and goes to sleep on his own bed. Skye would sleep all night on our bed if we let her, which we sometimes do. She stays put, though, whereas Colby stretches out and hogs the whole bed!

You think that's cramped, try sharing a queen sized bed with two full grown 75 lb male boxers and a 6'3" hubby. Now that's cramped. I'm lucky I get any room at all.

Hopefully with time they will get use to sleeping in their new bed. Try sharing a twin size bed with a 67.5 lb boxer! (Had to do that.)

We let Drake sleep with us ONE time. We also have a king sized bed and he took over the entire bed! He now sleeps on the loveseat in our bedroom. He has his own linens and he looks so cute when he's covered up with his head sticking out snoring....
