I am still have the problem with Lexie peeing in her kennel when we leave. I have taken her bedding out and only given her one or two toys to play with but when I came home tonight, there was a big puddle in the kennel.

At night, she gets her bedding back and she doesn't pee when we're home. I just don't know what to do about it. i want to stop it now before she gets too big.

Any suggestions??

How long is she by herself?

depending on the day... it ranges anywhere from 2-4 hours that she is by herself.

I thought that maybe she just couldn't hold it that long, but at night, she holds it about 8 hours with no accidents.

I just don't know.

Maybe you can manage the amount of water you give her? Or put up a divider in the crate if it is too big. Just some suggestions, I don't know.

I agree about the making the crate smaller thing. It should only be big enough for your baby to turn around and lay down in. Usually they won't want to pee where they lay. Also as a general rule of thumb, puppies can hold their pee an hour for every month old they are. For example, if your puppy is 3 months, that means 3 hours. Your baby might also be a nervous nelly, like mine. She has seperation issues too. See how the crate thing goes...

Try feeding her in there, if you haven't already. Then leave her bowl in there with her. I heard somewhere that they don't like to pee where they eat. When we were going through this with Lucy she wouldn't pee when we left her bowl in there. We concluded she had too much room and now she's doing great with a smaller crate, but the bowl did work.
Good luck!

I second all above suggestions....

Just an idea...do you think she might be peeing from excitement
of hearing you come home? Is she all wiggly and doing the boxer beanie when you come in?

All of the above responses are things we had to do with Macon and I would recommend them as well. Sometimes when she peed during the day when we were gone, she would try to pee in a corner thinking it would stay there and then she'd lay down and of course it would get on her, so I knew she didn't pee from excitement of us coming home. But I was pretty sure there were times that she had just peed when she heard my car pull in the driveway or the garage door going up. I know it's frustrating but it may take a long time. My golden took 12 weeks or so and Macon took forever, I don't even remember how long but way too long. So just keep trying everything and sooner or later it will just click for her and she'll finally "get it".

Good Luck :)
