Nned a home for my baby

The main thing she does when she is bored is dig up my bulbs and take anything she can off the coffee table (tv remote, telephone, books etc) If there are any suggestions to this, please share them.

I totally agree, honestly, these are all normal things that a boxer pup will do if it is bored or just being devilish...take the things off the table, its up to you to make your home boxer proof. Between them my 3 have demolished every rose bush in my garden. If you don't love her enough, there are so many people who will and would love to give her a forever home

Everytime ther'es a mess here it's something that should have been moved or they didn't get enough exercise for the day. I'm glad you have decided it is too much for you though. I would look into recues in the area if you can't get past the messes but it's not just a Boxer thing it's an young pup thing. We had a pit that ripped the wiring out of the garage while being babysat one day, they had to have thier intire home rewired! Also the same dog ate a hole through the foundation of the house to sleep underneath! and one more: She chased a racoon up a tree and across branches onto the roof of our house at 3:00 in the morning and then needed recueing down! She was 11 months old when she did all of that. Dogs are alot of work. if you can't find the time, find someone who does, they deserve that. Good luck!

Thank you for those of you who gave me some ideas to try. I will definately get her out for excercise more. She has a load of toys, but I will move them out and start to rotate them more. If worst comes to worst, I will contact my local rescue, thanks so much for the link.

My decision to get rid of her, if it comes to that is purely unselfish, I only want whats best for Zoey, not me. I know she deserves the best and if I cant do it right now, it will break my heart to lose yet another thing, but I will do it. Maybe if you live through a disaster, have your life turned upside down, lose your home, your job, and your best friends, you may understand how hard it would be to have to lose your dog too.

It is unfortunate the circumstances that have brought you to Phoenix. Not only uproot your pup from surroundings that were new as a 9 week old but then to new surroundings to adjust all over again. I imagine it's been a tough year overall. All of the things she is doing however are typical boredom issues ! Rocco is a digger and a thief of shoes, remotes, cell phones etc. I have found that this does happen much less when he gets good walks and some play time in the yard. Don't get me wrong, it still happens but if he gets a shoe, it's because I didn't put it away. If there is one thing I've learned over the last 8 months, it's that I'll never be able to stop "Boxer proofing" the house !
Good luck to you I hope that it all works out.....I think you'll find that with a little exercise you'll have a different dog !

I do understand what you have been through. I worked many months trying to reunite rescued Katrina pets with their displaced owners. I saw the nightmare your communities endured. I have spoken with many people who were in you very same situation. You were one of the lucky ones to have been able to take your pet with you. I do feel for you. I wrote what I did simply because you put emphasis on the fact that Zoey was a probelm dog for digging bulbs and chewing household items left in reach....which is perfectly normal behavior for a dog of Zoeys age. Hopefully,your family and Zoey can find way to adjust to your new life together-forever.

I don't mean this to be harsh in anyway... but after all you have been through, I would think giving up your furbaby would not be an option. She probably one of the only things you have left. Along with getting Zoey more exercise, you may find the exercise will help you deal with some of the stress you have endured also.
Also- It is said petting a dog is therapeutic. And I know if I can't get Bradlee out for a good run/walk etc... I make sure I sit and talk to her, pet her, and love her. This sometimes can give me the same tiring effect of a good walk. Also - 10 mins of training wears her out more then an hour at the dog park- Just a few thoughts.

Atlas has so many toys he does not know which one to play with first. I will take part of his toys and put them up for a few days. When I get them out he thinks he has new toys to play with. Young boxers are always full of energy. Taking lots of walks and just getting on the floor and playing with them helps alot. Before you know it she will calm down. Having a boxer pup is just like having a small child. You just have to puppy proof your house just like you would baby proof it. Atlas was so bad about counter surfing but he does not do that anymore. Good Luck!
