Nightmares of Christmas to come?

I have a three yr old skin kid, and a very rambunctious Ronin. I just have to make sure that I put any glass/valuable ornaments up high on the tree where they can't be reached by little hands and paws. We used to have a Boxer who managed to break every round ornament on the tree one year (those metal colored ball ornaments). We opted to buy "live trees" after that, which we decorated out on our back deck. We would then just plant the tree in our yard after the Holidays were over

I haven't done a Christmas tree since I moved out on my own almost 20 years ago...I do other decorations (e.g. real evergreen garland on the mantle, table centerpieces, etc) so I'm by no means a Christmas humbug, but I'm kind of a clutz and when I was a kid I was always knocking the tree down, so I saw no point in driving myself nuts as an adult. I'd already done that to my mom & dad!!

Practicing the Leave It command is your best defense for those of you who are traditional and normal and want to put up a tree. Schipman's comments are excellent about no tinsel, using glass alternatives, etc.

I can't wait until Christmas...I've already started shopping for Beasley. Don't tell him, but I've got a Lands End Doggie Squall jacket on order for him!!!

for me, it's gonna be all about defining our success with the "leave it" command! LOL For halloween, Adam left everything pretty much alone. (It was the cat that destroyed the garland on the railing ) But, no chances for me! all the special things will be put up higher than Adam can get.

And no presents under the tree til Midnite!!

Thanks for all the wonderful advice. I'm really scared now! LOL. I think for our sanity...and Cheetah's safety.....I will re-introduce her to THE CRATE during the month of December (while we're not home). Cheetah is pretty darn respectful of the "leave it" command...but when we're away.....she can be down right devious (or is that devilish)? We have 22' ceilings in the house, so the Christmas trees that DH gleefully chops down and drags home..are normally 15 to 17 feet tall. (Guide wires are an option here. ha) I just can see Cheetah sneaking up to it after we've left for work....and grabbing a lower limb (cause it smells sooooooo good)...and trying to take off with it.
CRASH....and then the ever important call to our home owner's insurance agent.
