When we brought young Lola home, she was 8 weeks. Luckily I work first shift while my wife works second so there is only about a 2 or 3 hour period when the shifts overlap that Lola is crated alone with no one home. That means all day long my wife is able to take her out often to make sure no accidents happen in the house which she has been VERY good about. Then its my turn and i have the opportunity to let her out numerous times during the evening. My wife normally gets home around midnight and by the time we get to bed and "tuck" Lola into her night time crate it is about 12:30-1am (Lola may already have been sleeping in the living room though so dont think we keep her up all night,
) For the first month or so i made it a point to get up atleast halfway through the night to let Lola outside to do her business, i wouldnt expect a puppy to hold it 6 - 7 hours. Even if she was sleeping, i would wake her up and take her out. My wife says its unnecessary due to the fact that if Lola is sleeping and not crying to be let out to go pee then she doesnt have to go. So, for the past week or so she still hasnt made any sounds to wake us to say she has to go potty so i havent been getting up to take her out. she hasnt wet her bed either. Is it normal that a 3 month old puppy can hold it 6 hours overnight? Is it unhealthy for her? Should i just wake her and take her out in case? or are we just lucky?
