I'm looking for a new video card, and would like some suggestions. My machine is an AMD Athlon 1600 with 256 MB PC133 RAM (going to upgrade to 512 MB PC2100 DDR soon), with an AGP 4x slot. I went to CompUSA last night, and almost bought an ATI Radeon 8500LE 64MB card, the last one in stock for $69, but had buyers remorse and left it there. I'm not looking for a Radeon 9700 Pro or a Matrox Parhelia type card. I just want a card that can decently play some 3-D games (I currently am playing Diablo II, WarCraft III, and want to get started on America's Army, but don't have a card that can handle it), and that will last me a while. I am looking at 128 MB cards like the nVidia GeForce4 ti4200, but I'm not sure I want to spend around $150 bucks for it. CompUSA was selling the 8500LE 128MB card for $79, but they don't have any left, and ATI's site says their now a legacy product. Does anyone have any suggestions about which card to get? Thanks.

For under $100, I would go with any Geforce2 or Geforce3 series cards, but the MX line. I use to run a Gainward GeForce2 Ti500 in my beater machine. It worked great and played all the latest games.

BTW, I hope you're upgrading your motherboard before buying that PC2100 RAM, because it probably wont fit in your current motherboard.

Thanks for the info. By the way, the motherboard supports both the DDR and SDRAM, I just have to change a couple (81) of jumpers. :)
