Hi everyone... I am very new to this site. I have a 1 and 1/2 year old boxer fawn female. Wow!!! nothing like my other dog... Bailey is a very happy dog... loves to be affectionous... and loves my kids.
Will she ever grow out of being hyper??? We are going to find her a mate.. The male of the litter we will keep.... Maybe she will calm down after she has someone to play with.

Hello and welcome to boxerworld. How long have you had Bailey? What kind of dog did you have before? Whats the litter you are talking about? Boxers are slow to mature so she really is still a puppy. Just give her between 2-3 years and she should calm down a bit. There are many people here who have mulitple boxers so I am sure you will get some good advice. Also, make sure she gets plenty of exercise daily. I take mine to the park and throw the ball for him and he runs around like crazy, then we can just go home and hang out.

Boxers stay energetic for a loooooooong time - you've got a few more years of bouncing Boxer happiness ahead of you!

Getting a second boxer is a great way to keep them busy, but can also mean double the trouble in some cases... :rolleyes:

If you're new to the boxer breed, I'd strongly urge you to do a LOT of research before breeding. It's definitely not something to be taken lightly or entered into casually. I'd encourage you to read this recent thread in particular about the responsibilities and dangers of breeding:

You may also want to consider rescuing a dog the same age as Bailey, so check out the Rescue/Adoption forums. There are a lot of boxers just waiting for good homes! Browse through all the forums and use the search feature (blue button up top on right) to find threads on specific issues. Lots of amazing info is packed into this site - have fun! :D

Welcome to boxerworld, there is a wealth of info to be found here.
Like someone else stated, boxers are slow to mature 3ish and even then they will be puppies for the rest of their life. It does take some getting used to but once you get accustomed to their energy level you will discover the joy of being a boxer parent.
You are going to get a male? that is awesome, have you considered rescue? there are MILLIONS of dogs that need homes. if you need any info on rescue feel free to ask me. i have been in rescue for a little over a year, am owned by 2 rescue females and fostered 2 rescues.
I am confused about your phrasing though, you said "mate" are you planning on breeding or did you just mean another playmate. If you are planning on breeding, then i would definitly do a TON of research and there are PLENTY of posts on the topic to find out what is involved and the health checks. If you need help finding the posts i can help you on that as well.

Hello and welcome! Tess started to mellow out around the age of 3 although she can still be very much a puppy and she is 7 1/2!!

I would strongly encourage you to rescue a second boxer. My Tyra is a rescue and I swear she is the best dog I have ever owned. Rescued dogs are the most grateful creatures on this earth. They usually come to you already housebroken and past the point of puppy mischief. A piece of cake. In contrast I also have a 5 month old pup. What alot of work he is. The only time I can relax with him is if he is sleeping. My husband never had a puppy so we got Elmo. Otherwise I would have liked to rescue a second boxer.
