Hello, I picked up my boxer baby Morgan 5 weeks ago, she is 14 weeks old now. The problem that I am having is that she poops in her crate, not all the time, only when I leave her alone in the house. She seems to be fine when I am home, or at night sleeping (she even sleeps through the night no problems). I've tried giving her treats everytime she goes in, and feeding her in the crate. The most I've left her is half an hour and still she poops and pushes it out the door of the crate. I've been told it could just be that she panics when I first leave and just goes, "Bach Rescue Remedy" was recommended to calm her down. Has anyone else had this problem or any similar experiences?

she's still young, so unable to control her poop/pee at this point...give her time. maybe just practice leaving for about 5 minutes, or however long you can without her pooping, and right when you come back take her out and encourage her to poop (hopefully she will!) and praise like mad!!!

i don't think you need rescue remedy at this point, it's a hoax in my opinion anyway, or i should say it won't hurt, but probably won't help (don't know about the safety of using it on a puppy so young though).

It's best that puppies are "empty" before you leave them in the crate ;) Not always that easy to achieve though.

As Grimmja has suggested, how about 'practising' leaving? If you think that's stressing her out, why not 'leave' the house just for a few minutes every time she goes into the crate? Rather than taking her out as soon as you return though, I'd only take her if/when it appears that she needs to go.

If you use the SEARCH ENGINE, you'll find lots of information on this very subject. Use search terms such as "Crate AND Poop" or "Crate AND Potty" and you come up with tons of information.

Good luck.
