Hello Everybody! My husband and I are getting a boxer puppy!!! I am a little nervous about it. We are going to pick her out tomorrow and she will be ready to come home on 6/23. I am getting her from a reputable byb...if any of you believe in such things. The girl breeding them has a lot of experience with boxers and is trying to start her own kennel. So, she does not have many yet. I am not sure you could qualify her as a breeder because she is just starting out. This is this dam's first litter. Her other female has had a few litters. She used to show but stopped for a while. She is trying to improve the breed, but like I said, she is still fairly new. At any rate, we are very excited!!!! We have not ever owned a dog together. I have had a few in my lifetime. We have cats now, I am hoping they don't hate me forever, LOL!!! I have some questions about choosing the puppy, but just wanted to post a basic introduction. My brother in law just got his boxer baby a few weeks ago. This helped to spur us on. I was doing a lot of research on other breeds and then starting doing a lot of research on boxers. We decided to go on a puppy hunt and we got directed to our "breeder." It is not a done deal yet, as I want to meet her and really check out the pups. I think we want a female. Not too flashy, but we'll see. Anybody have advice on choosing a puppy? I was reading a book that said not to necessarily let the puppy pick you, but to really look at all of them. There are 3 to choose from, all others taken, and 2 are female. So, I can't wait to be a part of this great boxer board. I have been lurking for quite some time!!! Nice to meet ya all! Jami

I am very excited for you, getting a new puppy is so exciting. PLEASE ask about health testing on the dam & sire. It is so important. All puppies are "money pits" to begin with, but if you can avoid the financial burden of a sickly pup (not to mention the heart ache!) you should. My first dog was purchased many years ago from a pet store and though he lived to 12 yrs he was very expensive in vet bills due to poor health. Use your head and not your heart. Good luck!

welcome.
I wish you all the best with your baby. IMHO, it doesn't matter where a furbaby comes from as long as person breeding them is commited to the breed and not the dollar. When you pick up your pup, your next stop should be the vet.

Baby boxers

Baby boxers are great... My first Boxer Remus chose us when we went to see the litter I was going for a Bitch but Remus had other ideas, he was a great joy. Our cat moved out for two weeks until she got use to the idea we had to feed her in the back garden she came round eventually and they became great pals or should I say conspiritors. Our cat is quite resigned to our new boxer molly, been there done that as far as she's concerned, molly however is not too sure . But we will work on that.

Enjoy your pup

glad to hear

I was glad to hear that your cat has survived the transition. I hope mine can deal with it. They live indoors only, so unless they escape, that will have to be that! We are making them a special spot where they can go to get away if they need to. Plus, I am worried about some of their toys. I know I will have to watch carfeully to make sure the pup doesn't get the cat stuff stuck down her throat! Well, nice to meet you and thanks again! Jami
