After being on a raw diet of nothing but chicken backs for the last 8 days, my puppy Tyson is still having inconsistant stool movements. At times he'll have nice hard stools and other times nothing but liquid. He has been to the vet and has a clean bill of health. I have feed him chicken before in prepackaged raw meals so I don't think its a reaction to the chicken. Is his system still adjusting he gets 1/2lbs per meal, and is 5 months old and weighs 25lbs.

Anybody experience this or have some advice? thanks

Well, it could well just be that his system is still adjusting to the new type of diet. Do the chicken backs still have skin on them, btw? If so, it could possibly be that the backs are a little fatty. I'd try giving some other, more meaty, chicken parts as well. Not too much of it, but perhaps thighs, but preferably without the skin. That's not a significant change to what he's currently getting, but possibly the more meaty and less fatty part might make a bit of difference here.

Now that I think of it, the chicken did have the skin on it still. So you are probably right in the thoughts that It is too fatty.... can you suggest a type of RMB to ad or sub with this?

Still chicken? Or another type of RMB altogether?

If it's chicken, I'd go for necks and thighs. Both a pretty easy for him to eat, and if you need to take off the skin it's easy to do with thighs.

If it's another RMB you're thinking of, how about beef brisket (sternum) or lamb flaps? Both are the short ends of ribs with meat attached. Any part of rabbit is also excellent if you can get it readily (depends on where you live as to whether it's very cheap or ridiculously expensive - choose accordingly LOL).

I am by no means an expert- Luka has only been on RAW for- well, 10 days :D and I feed him 1/2lb 2 times a day too (he's 33lbs). I give Luka chicken drumsticks and he seems to do fine on them. Luka is older than Tyson and has eaten lots of "people food" so I felt fairly confident giving him Lamb and turkey also (his kibble contained Lamb, Chicken and Turkey too)
But anyway, drumsticks work well, they have lots of meat and Luka crunches the bone right down. I remove most of the skin.
I also like to give him turkey legs- skin removed- they are really meaty w/ a nice bone (loud crunching tho :) Altho they are ususally over .5lbs, so I give a little less the next morning.
Lamb bone is also pretty easy for Luka to chew. If you try ribs or brisket, be aware Tyson might now eat the whole bone but just nibble on it.
