Hi all! I was wondering if you all could give me some advice. I am getting my first boxer 9th May and I can hardly wait!!!! We seen her last Sunday when she was only 3 1/2 weeks old - how cute!!

I am so excited I have been to see her once and fell head over heals in love with her already!

Have any of you experienced boxer owners any much needed tips for a first time boxer owner??

Congratulations on the new pup and welcome to Boxerworld.

There is an entire forum section on puppy matters and you can use the search feature here to find most anything you want to know about boxers, puppies, raising pups, crate training, socialization, feeding, etc., etc., etc., etc.

Take some time while you are so (im)patiently waiting for your puppy to go into these forums, do some searches on what you are curious about and read the posts from members there. Then if you have any specific questions, you can of course post them and our members will be happy to share their experiences with you.

Best of luck. We look forward to meeting your new pup.

Congradulations on the soon to be new addition to your family. We hava 6 week old puppy and he is so beautiful. When you get him / her you will want to crate train it immediatly. We are still working on training ours. Good luck..:)

I am from Northern Ireland and I do not understand what you mean by crate training? I am so confused

can you please explain?

Also you can possibly help me with another query I wil be taking the first week off work to spend time with the puppy but when I do return to work she will be left alone for a good part of the day - we were just going to let her stay by herself in the kitchen for most of the day - is this OK?

My mum will be calling in around lunch time to feed her and my boyfriends sister will call in after school (around 4pm) to sit with the dog until we return home from work at 6pm.....

By the way the dog is a girl - she has a tan/red coat with white socks and a white flash under her chin, on the back of her neck and on her nose - the cutest thing ever - I totally love her and the count down is on until I can bring her home with me on 9th May.....

New puppy

Crate training is when you put the puppy in a kennel and leave him there for a shot time. Do not take him / or her out if they are whining. when you put her in the kennel make sure everytime you say " kennel up" cause that way anytime you need her to go in the kennel you say kennel up and she will automaticly go to the kennel.

If you do a search using the grey button you can find tons of info on crate training...if done properly it is better for you and for your puppy... It helps them become house trained and keeps them safe from getting into mischief while you are out.

I would reccomend that you look into it, it is definatley beneficial for both you and your pup!!

Congrats on the new baby....Have you picked a name for her?

Also get some sleep now while you can, you'll be up and down all night, for potty breaks :D
