Hello ALL,

We just picked up our new Pup today, she is 8wks old and seems to be acting very shy. I know this is not a good sign, is this normal for the first night, She will not roam, she just sits where I place her.

I would just give her some time. It is a big adjustment - she is in a new place with new people and it can be quite overwhelming. I would just give her space and time to settle in.
Do you have a crate for her - a space of her own, with toys and things to keep her company?

It is always recommended to take a new pup to the vet within the first 48-72 hrs. If all checks out at the vets, then just give her time to adjust. I'm sure it won't be long and you'll be *wishing* she'd just sit where you place her...or at least would stay in the same room you place her!

Takes time....

My little Doja didn't start to explore the whole house for at least a week or so after she came home. Might have even been a little longer than that. Just a lot for a new puppy to adjust to all at once. She just needs some time. And the like the person said before me, soon enough you will wish she would stay where you put her!

Try and make her comfortable tonight. Put a ticking clock next to her crate. Put in a snuggly animal or something in there too. She is probably going to cry a lot tonight. But that's normal. This is her first night alone without brothers and sisters.

My Boomer was the same way. The first few days he was very overwhelmed and we didnt have a crate for him since he was a gift from my sister. But he would just stay on his little bed. After a few days he was looking around and exploring, now he is 5 months old and he is SOOOOO nosey and never stays in one spot!! Good luck with your new baby. Please keep us posted.
