new puppy peeing in crate- HELP!!

we got a new puppy,lilah, 2 weeks ago. we already have a 9 month old boy(dagney). We got lilah from a pet store at 12 weeks (though she was only there for a couple of days). Lilah keeps peeing in her crate (yes, we have a divider in the crate to make it small)--- is she a "dirty dog"? any suggestions? we never had this problem with our other boxer

How small is it? it should be just enough room for her to turn around and lay down. Use the search button you should find a lot there on this subject. Also making sure she is taken out after sleeps, feeding, playing etc, limit water at nightime. Patience, Persistance, Praise.

The problem is that you got Lilah from a pet store. Where do you think she peed there. In the the cage of course. Since she has learned to pee in her crate it is going to take her all that much longer to learn not too to go there.

Do a search on housetraining and you will find lots of information.

Yep, your puppy has been 'taught' to pee in her cage/crate. That's just one of the downsides to a pet store puppy, I'm afraid.

The only way for you to train her out of it is to make sure that you're taking her outside to pee just as often as she needs to go. With a 12 week old pup, that's probably every hour unless she's asleep (in which case she'll need to go the moment she wakes up). Take her outside, praise her lavishly when she pees out there, and eliminate as much as you can the times she'll need to go while inside. Eventually she'll get it - but it will take much patience and vigilence on your part to re-train her. Good luck - you'll get there

The only other thing I can add that hasn't already been said is to make sure you clean out the crate thorougly after she pees in it. You don't want her to be able to smell the scent.
I use Nature's Miracle to clean up any accidents.

thanks for the advice... i am going to get nature's miracle today. and we took out the blanket in her crate per suggestion... yesterday was a "pee free" day in lilah's crate
