Hi! I got my first beautiful boxer baby on Friday...so she has only been at my house for two days. She just doesn't seem interested in eating much. She is just running around and playing and sleeping.

Do most pups just need a few days to get adjusted and "de-stress?" She hasn't been acting hungry so I'm thinking she just is too curious and busy. However, when should I start getting worried?

Sorry, new mom so I'm worried about everything! :)

It is probably not unusual for the first couple of days to not eat much. What are you feeding? You should start out feeding the same food that the breeder fed and then you can gradually add in whatever food you have chosen to feed you pup. You should feed the best food that you can afford. I always warn my puppy buyers to expect a few days of not eating so well. The pups are used to the competition of their littermates. New home, no siblings and all new surroundings do this to a pup.

Enjoy and don't worry.

Are you feeding kibble? If so, then try putting some warm water in the kibble. It will make it easier for your new baby to chew and they seem to like the "sauce".

Thanks

Thank you all for your advice...

I am feeding her what the breeder did, and I think it was just a little stress. She is eating more today and I think she is getting a little more used to her new home.

I'll continue to encourage her to eat and slowly change her food (after all, Pedigree Puppy is no where near the best).
