Boxer Pal
Three more days til we pick up our little Hooligan, I have a shopping list:

Crate
Collar/Lead
Food bowls
Towels
Treats
Kong
Dog Food- Canidae or Eukanuba?
Grooming brush

Is there anything I'm missing that I'll need right away?

You might need a very small set of nail clippers. I have started clipping Belle's nails so that she can get used to it. I only take off a little bit but it should get her used to having her paws handled. I don't want to have to wrestle a 65lb dog to cut her nail. :)

If those are your two options, definitely go with Canidae. You listed towels, do you mean paper or regular? You definitley need paper towels and you probaly want to line the crate with a soft towel. Yes a Kong is a great toy, but you may want to have some others handy if your puppy is not a Kong fan, (mine isn't). Some hypo allergenic baby wipes are useful to wipe off muddy little paws when they come inside.
Depending on how fast your little one is able to cover himself or herself in mud, ;) you may want to have a mild natural puppy shampoo on hand.
Don't forget the dog tag that contains your phone number, our Petco and Pet Supplies Plus have machines that engrave them.
I found a ticking clock wrapped in a small receiving blanket, placed in the crate, helped mine through her first few nights with us.
Oh, and one more thing... patience. Good Luck

Do you have the vet visit scheduled?

We also purchased several different types of toys for Wyatt, different textures (fleece, rubber, plastic, cloth, etc.) this seems to keep him occupied and we have found that on different days he prefers different textures could have to do with teething.

Nutradent treats for good breath and chewing.

Paper towels-lots of them! PetStain remover..the kind that removes all traces of scent. Definitely take Eukanuba off your list and go with Canidae. You may want a hard nylabone for those sharp teeth to work on. Baby wipes. it's good to keep benedryl handy for dogs of any age. Patience, patience and patience......tylenol for you. Batteries and memory discs for your camera-they don't stay small for long!

For the grooming brush- go with a Zoom Groom!!!
Also, some tennis balls! you can buy some smaller ones for when your puppy is still tiny! Basil LOOOOOOVES chasing balls- and she also likes water bottles (empty without the label)

and definately get carpet cleaner, and if you dont have a flashlight, that will be good for taking her on late night potty breaks!

Im not sure if you or someone else mentioned it, but treats! you can start training her right away!
