Hello,

It has been awhile since I have posted. Brutus is now 1 year and 4 months old and doing very well! We knew we wanted another boxer and decided that this was a great time to do it. So we found beautiful lil girl boxer( no name yet... so tough to decide on one) we brought her home and introduced her to brutus and things went well the first night. The past two nights however are a different story. She seems to be very very fiesty and likes to play, but Brutus however is somewhat scared of her and kinda runs away sometimes. Sometimes he will play with her and is very very gentle with her. Both nights now they are playing and all of a sudden Brutus just starts peeing. He won't stop until he lets it all out, but it looks like he doesn't even realize what he is doing. Is it possible he is more submissive than i believed and that the new lil girl is more dominant? I am not sure what to do with this, but advice would appreciated!

Are you sure Brutus hasn't got any sort of physical problem, such as a bladder or urinary tract infection? It's fairly common, and (aside from being very uncomfortable for the dog) would affect his ability to hold on. It is worth having a vet check him, because he'd need meds to get over it.

The rest sounds pretty normal. When you have a young pup and an older one playing, in almost every single case the older one will let the baby away with near-murder. And all the noise in play will be coming from the little one too!

With a baby that young, I really don't think "dominance" is even in the equation.

I did not have the peeing problem but I was SO worried about Abby when Mia came into the house. Mia was our 5th dog but first puppy since Abby. I thought Mia was going to have to be rehomed at one point because poor Abby had become a living chew toy. Mia got away with MURDER. Almost for a complete year Abby let Mia do ANYTHING. Just when I thought I was the only one that was going to police Mia, Abby dropped the boom. For the last 8 months Abby puts up with NOTHING from Mia. We now have Piper who is only 5 months and Abby is the same way. Lucky for me and the others Piper is a mellow puppy. Still I know her time is coming when Abby will expect her to grow up.

We know he doesn't have a physical problem such as a urinary tract infection. We saw the vet last week and we asked to check everything out. He never did this until we brought the little girl into the picture. It is very odd. We will see how he works through this. Thanks for your help
