Hi! I wanted to introduce myself. I've always had boxers...my first one having been adopted from the SPCA. I remember my mom coming in to check that night to make sure the dog didn't eat me up! That was a long time ago. Since then have had 2 boxers each living to be 12 years old. Our last boxer, Fanny, had to be put to sleep the day before Christmas Eve. She had been suffering with cancer and it was time for us to say goodbye. The whole family was devastated. New Year's Day we got a new baby. We've called her Dolly. I swear she has a little bit of all my boxers in her. She's made us sooooo happy! She's snoozing right now so I thought I'd take advantage of the break and check in.

Well Connie let me be one of the first to welcome you to the board. Kinda funny though since I just became a member myself. We just got our puppy a week ago, quite the handful. He's our first boxer but from all we've read on this sight and elsewhere we're looking forward to everything in store for us. This website is incredible, full of knowledgeable people and plenty of advice. Congratulations on the pup and welcome.:D :) :D

Hi Connie and welcome to Boxer World.

Congratulations on your new addition. I know Dolly can never replace Fanny, but hopefully she will help ease the pain that you and your family are feeling.

Hope to see some pic's soon. Enjoy your new baby!

Welcome to Boxerworld, Connie! I'm so sorry to hear about Fanny, but so glad you have a new Boxer baby to love. What a way to start a new year! I'm sure with your Boxer background, you'll have a lot of good info to share with all of us. Again, welcome!

Thanks all for your responses and welcoming to this website. Eventhough I have had boxers for about 37 years now (Yikes!) I am learning so much from all the other boxer owners. New for me is this crating system. My daughter has 2 pugs and swears by it. All she has to say is, "Kennel Up!" and off they go to their crate. When Fanny was a pup I worked part-time and my children were school age coming home about 3pm. She didn't have the run of the house but still had more freedom than Dolly does. I feel guilty leaving Dolly in the crate for the entire day but the vet has reassured me that that is what's best for Dolly. She seems to be adjusting well. We have a smaller crate next to my bed where she sleeps until about 1am. We go to bed very early ~ 9pm. I'll take her outside to relieve herself and lately she's been coming in our bed afterwards. Not bad when she only weighs 9 lbs ---oh well, all my boxers were allowed on the bed. Fanny would sleep til about 4:30am and then come up for a cuddle. You know, life's too short! It could be worse. I'm on vacation this week (to help ease Dolly into living here) and will be spending the night at my daughter's visiting w/my 1 year old granddaughter. Maddie (Madeleine) already loves her Dolly. After all, she's got two miniature dollies at home with her. Our family just loves ugly dogs 'cause they're so cute!
