new pup today - what do I need?

I'm going to pick up our new pup soon and want to buy all the stuff for him in advance...what do I need?

The list I've got so far:

Collar
Leash
Crate
Bedding
Food & water bowls
Food
Toys
Pooper scooper stuff

Good list so far - but I would add:
Clean Up Kit - for those "accidents" We got something from Hertz that worked good for that.
Rags to use to clean it up
Soft toy - our puppy has a soft animal that she loves to cuddle with
Treats
Brush of some sort
Nail Clippers
Toothbrush/paste (not human kind...j/k)
baby wipes - we used them to wipe off morgan's feet when she came in the house - worked wonders!

Make sure you get an ID tag so everyone can identify your little baby!

Oh yeah - an ID tag - they can sometimes make them for your right at the pet store. That's what we did for Morgan when we first got her.
It was like $2.99 or something. We put her name and our number on it...

great! thanks for the quick replies! a little off subject here, but when is a good time to microchip a dog?

Anytime I think. Ours was microchipped by our breeder before we picked her up.
Then - during the first trip to the vet - they asked us there if we wanted to do it.
So I think anytime at all!

Mya was chipped when she was spayed. The vet thought it would be easier on her if she was "asleep"

Make sure you have lots of love and patience ready for your new baby. Cuddles and smooches are pretty important too. I would also stock up on Nature's Miracle (for accidents) and paper towels.

We are getting Porter Microchipped when he gets nutered. It is a pretty easy procedure and I think it about $50.
