Our new 9 week old Boxer is adjusting well to our home and our 5 year old English Bulldog. And by adjusting well, I mean chewing on the bully all the time. We understand that there is a pecking order issue that the two dogs need to work out between them, and that right now our Bulldog thinks she is queen of the house (little does she know that Bella will surpass her in size/brains/strength in a few short weeks). But should we be intervening or mediating their rough play at all? Our Bully will ususally bark pretty agressively when she has had enough, but should we be trying to manage their playtime to be less agressive? The upshot is they tire each other out by the end of a good chew session. Any thoughts on helping two dogs socialize would be great.

Only intervene if it gets out of hand. The EB will set the limits with the pup when the pup is old enough. Right now the EB is giving the pup lots of puppy leeway and will do so until his/her hormones start kicking in. THEN, your EB will start laying down some rules.

Just keep an eye on them when they play and don't let anyone get hurt. But for the most part, let them enjoy each other. I'm sure your EB hasn't had this much fun in a while either. :)
