OK, so Piper got a 1/2 of chicken the day before yesterday. She loved eating & burying & digging it up & eating more. Yesterday, she layed around a lot & smelled the 1/2 chicken I gave her but refused to eat it so I put it back in the fridge. The only thing she'd eat was some yogurt & then grass she ate from the yard (which she through up) Here is my question: When she came back up from her 1st morning pee I saw a couple of drips hanging from her so I cleaned them off w/ some toilet paper. They had a mildly milky, a tad green-ish hue to them but after they were on the toilet paper, they were yellow. Should I be concerned? I am concerned about a urinary tract infection. What are the signs? I am so clueless on this b/c I've only had her for 2 weeks (haven't had a dog for over 20 yrs) and I've never taken notice of her pee before now!
Thanks! -Juli

hi juli, I would tend to think a UTI. so a trip to the vet would be needed for antiboctics. congrats on feeding raw with your baby.appicon have you read any books on raw? a good one RAW MEATY BONE by TOM LONSDALE. as far as burying the food out back I can't really help you since mine eat at there bowls. I have 3 that are raw fed and I use to have a aggressive female so I trained them to eat at there spots.:) also I don't know if I would like raw chicken buried in the back yard. we have alot of wild animals here that have rabies and I would not want them to come in the backyard for food.:)

She ate the grass because her tummy was upset, probably from not eating. Mine do this also when they don't eat.

How old is she? If she still a pup giving her a half a chicken may have been more then she knew what to do with. Try giving her smaller pieces like just a leg or thigh with the meat sort of cut up so she can rip it off better. Holding it for her may help also.

I think as long as she is not having any bladder control problems, the milky stuff is normal. If you do a search there has been other discussion on this. But if you are concerned your best bet is to see a vet.

Good luck with the new pup.

I am a bit late responding to this but it sounds like it may be vaginitis. Liza has this as well. Never a UTI, but chronic vaginitis. Has your dog recently been on any antibiotic? Do you feed yogurt or other probiotic regularly?
