I was wondering if anyone has used the new Nutro natural choice ultra puppy, and if it is working for your dog. It looks at lot better than anything Nutro has made before, how would you compare it to the other top brands of dog food? Can't wait to read your opinions:)

We tried to switch to Ultra from Chicken Soup. I have noticed no noticable difference besides a lighter wallet. Jaz seems to care less about the taste, and doesn't seem to prefer one over the other. I am looking at another switch now to Natural Balance soon. Still researching myself, there is a lot of choices out there... good luck.

I just went out last night and bought a bag of the Nutro Ultra Puppy. I switched my Millie to Nutro Large Breed about a month ago, but was noticing she wasn't eating as much, has gas and tons of eye boogies which she never had before. I gave a little to her last night and she loved it. I mixed it in with the old food this morning and she scarfed it down no problem. I'll post back in a couple of weeks to see how she is when she's totally on it.

Millie; I'm curious, What was your old food before? I just switched Chooch from Purina Puppy Chow to Bil Jac and he's not gobbling it down very well even though I'm mixing it w/the old Purina brand. I'm considering switching to Nutro!

Thanks again!!!!!

Yesterday, I went to the groomers to buy Shotzes Caniadae. (spelled wrong I know) They were out!!! OI! Ok I cant go back to the vet I was using to buy it and theres no where else that sells it. So basically I have to switch her food. I went to petsmart and stood for an hour reading ingrediants lists. I decided to buy Nutro Natural Choice Ultra. I had fed her this before and she did fine. I came home and filled her bowl up and she gulped it down. She LOVES it! Her poo has been a little softer, but already there is less of it. Good sign I think. Ill let you know how well she does.

Health: Millie was on Purina Pro Plan which the breeder had her on when we got her. She was doing fine on it, but after running into a Nutro rep at Petsmart, I decided to switch her to a better food. LIke I said before, she wasn't too crazy about the Nutro Large Breed, but she absolutely loves the Nutro Ultra (when she eats it). I have noticed that she doens't eat as much as when she was on the Purina and her stool is a little soft at the moment, but I think that might be because she is on antiobiotics right now for a bladder infection, plus she was spayed last week. Her eye boogies are gone again, thank goodness, but we are still having the gas issue with a more wicked smell than when she was on the Nutro Large Breed. Good luck with you.

NUTRO Natural Choice Ultra Puppy Chicken, Salmon, and Lamb Formula.

I'm surprised they can put salmon second on the name list, as it's 12th on the ingredients list....

Poultry Fat - not great, an actual source (Chicken Fat, Turkey Fat) is preferable

Brown Rice, Rice Bran, Ground Rice, Beet Pulp, Oatmeal,
Lots of fillers....

Tomato Pomace (natural source of Lycopene)...Lycopene. Two sources? I don't think lycopene is even a nutritional requirement for dogs (just the latest bandwagon thing), so I'm not at all sure why there would be two sources of it.

Health, I tried posting a reply the other day but I see it didn't take. Millie was on Purina Pro Plan before I tried switching her to Nutro for Large Breed, then Nutro Ultra. She was doing fine it appeared on Purina, but after running into a Nutro rep and reading some postings on this sight I decided to swith her to a better food. It has been a few weeks now and she is doing good. Some days she eats more than others. Her stool seems a little soft at times but she is on antibiotics right now for a bladder infection and I am hoping that is why.

Well, so far so good on the Ultra. Loads less poo and consistently firm. I have noticed bad gas now, but I havent been adding her yogurt lately. (adds that to the shopping list) There really arent alot of choices here for a quality kibble. Bil-Jac, Royal Canin, Nutro, Science Diet, Eukanuba, Iams, Natural Choice, purina, and other low quality kibble. Noone sells Wellness or the other kibble listed on the recommended kibble list. I can order it from JB pets, but thats mail order and I wonder about the quality.

Is it safe to mail-order kibble? Just curious, because I might try it.
