My three month old joy, Rosie, is at the vet being treated for bacterial pneumonia. It's just a working diagnosis at the moment, but her blood work should be done this afternoon.

I am beside myself with worry.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do, practically speaking, when she comes home? Do I need to wash everything in the house, or just her blankets, bedding and toys? Should I throw out her dog treats (bones, bullysticks etc.)?

I never throught I would fall in love with a dog, but Rosie is my special girl.

Advice gladly accepted.

I'm sorry to hear about Rosie. :(

I wouldn't think it would be necessary to throw away her bones etc. I would definitely wash everything that you can. I don't know where she could have picked the bacterial pneumonia. I would ask your vet about the bones.

I'm sending positive healing vibes to Rosie.

Thanks Jan. I have washed everything.

Rosie is still at the vet, but doing better. The vet reassured me I didn't do anything wrong, her sickness is just a fluke.

I SHOULD have pushed him to give her an antibiotic last week when I brought her in with coughing. He diagnosed kennel cough but said she needed to just work it out of her system.

Going to go see me girl in a bit....hope she can come home tomorrow.

Thanks,
Christa

I'm sorry you and Rosie are going through this. When you pick her up from the vet, you might ask them some suggestions on helping Rosie from coughing. Coughing too hard could possibly aggravate her delicate membranes; she'll probably heal faster if she can cough less. (I'm making this assumption based on human bactierial pnuemonia.) :) Like a humidifier maybe?

Anyways, good luck. We're sending Rosie healing vibes.
