Boxer Pal
Hello,
I am a new member. I used to peruse this site about 5 years ago but life has been very hectic raising children. I was never a member. I just liked to look at the photos of Boxer dogs and information that was available. I tend to be a reader and listener, not much of a poster.

I have two boxers. One male flashy fawn neutered and one female brindle spayed. My male is 4 (soon to be 5) and my female is 7.5. I have been around dogs all my life. My Uncle used to be a Boxer breeder in the 70s in South America. My parents are herding breed fans so that is what I grew up with when not visiting relatives. I have been around German shepherds, Corgis, Border collies, Huskies and a few mutts too.

My husband and I got a Boston Terrier for our first dog. We were terribly sad at his death and decided to switch breeds. Our first Boxer was purchased/adopted 7.5 years ago. She was a 10 week old puppy. My son picked her because she "looks like a tiger". She is and continues to be the best dog I have ever been around. She is amazing and I am thankful to be a part of her life. Our second Boxer we got at 6.5 weeks. He is a character. He is very different than our first but a joy to be around. Together they are close friends. Our female treats him like her child and early on mothered him in ways few humans can imagine.

I joined the site because my female is very ill. Sometimes it is difficult to talk to others who are not pet owners about their dog's illness. My dog has Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA) or Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA) (they are the same). I decided to join to find out what others have gone through. There are many dog lovers on this site and others who understand how boxers behave. It is comforting to see I am not alone.

I plan to check out how one boxer does when his friend (another boxer) passes away. I wonder how my male will do when our female is gone. These questions are pre-mature as my female is doing rather well despite this tragic disease she has.

Thank you for your time.
