hello everybody i am new to all this i have had my dog jess for three months now and in this short time i have realised i am lucky to have her it was unexpected as a friend couldnt cope with her so i took her i guess i didnt realise what i was getting myself into but i wouldnt be without her she is still a baby as she is only 8 months old and full of beans and character she has pulled a muscle in her leg and i am supposed to keep her quiet for 3 months which is impossible as you would know she is always sulking as she cannot go the beach which she loves in all weather :( . She is always up to mischief like yesterday i went out and came back 2 hours later she jumped all over me as she does even if you have only been gone 5 minutes i sat down after nearly been knocked to the floor she went upstairs and came down into the room with one of my shoes and put it down in front of me i picked it up and part of the heel was missing i was really mad but had to laugh at the cheek of her showing me what she had done like she was really proud of it:D but as you know with boxers its hard to stay mad at her for long especially when she looks at you with them big sad eyes well thats enough for now hope to here from you boxer lovers soon:LOL:

Hi. So you're finding out what life with a Boxer is like. Trying to keep a Boxer quiet is like trying to cap a volcano.

However, you will make life a lot simpler, and less expensive by providing plenty of toys for your pup. Tennis balls, tug toys, rope toys, Kongs, etc. will reduce the liklihood that your dog will use something valuable for a toy.

Stuffed toys are ok, but can be torn apart by some Boxers in minutes. Then they love to pull the stuffing out, and some may eat it which can cause serious problems since it may cause a blockage in their digestive tract.

Don't give her any old clothing including shoes as a toy. They will not distinguish between a tattered old sneaker or an expensive shoe.

Boxers are a handful and then some. But with proper care and training, they will reward you with a lifetime of laughs and joy. As you have already seen, it is difficult to get angry with them.

Get some books about Boxers and read them thoroughly. You will find they are worth their weight in gold when it comes to understanding, raising and training your dog.

Hi & welcome to BW! Oh, and welcome to your crazy life with a boxer. They can be a challenge, but they are SO worth it. Boxers are faithful, loyal, and loving. They do try your patience, though. My Maggie is 3, and she still tries my patience, daily!! ;) You're right, though. You just can't stay mad when they look at you with those big sad eyes.

Pull up a comfy chair. This is an addicting site. Feel free to ask questions, as everyone here is very helpful. You can also do a "search" to see if your question has been answered before.

Please post pictures if you can. We love to "oooh" and "aaah" at boxer baby pictures around here.

Welcome to Boxerworld Ann & Jess. It will be very difficult trying to keep Jess quiet if she has pulled a muscle. Sergeant has a 'cruciate ligament injury' like the athletes have, the vet said that you can tell athletes to rest a year, but what do you do with a Boxer? He is doing O.K. though, we have cut down his walks to just one in the mornings, whereas he used to have two long walks daily. We also give him Glucosamine & MSM in his food to keep the arthritis in check.
When he was young one day we came home to find one of our pillows shredded and the stuffing from one end of the bedroom right along the hall to the bathroom smashicon  . Now that he is older, he is 8 years, he has stuffed toys in his crate that he has had for ages, he cuddles up to them.
