I did a quick search to see if anyone had already posted about this. I hope I'm not repeating someone else's post. In any case, I got the new copy of Whole Dog Journal and they are endorsing a new kind of harness. They continue to endorse the Gentle Leader also. It's important to keep in mind that both tools are designed to help you teach your dog not to pull - the products themselves won't teach your dog not to pull.

Anyway, the new harness is a SENSE-ation harness and it seems to work similarly to the Gentle Leader in that the leash attaches in the front. One nice thing about it is that dogs tend to accept it more readily than the Gentle Leader (I haven't tried it myself, though!) I ordered one today and I'll give it a try!

You can check out this site to learn more about the harness: SENSE-ation Harness

I am interested to hear how it works for you. I really did not understand how it works especially since the leash fastens in the front.

I promise I will post a report as soon as I receive the harness! I will try it out on my little puller. Lucy has a CD, U-CD, CGC, TDI certification, etc. and let me tell you - she could pull me and my car down the street. I know it's my own fault for not training her properly. If the harness helps, I'm all for it.

I just got Molly (she is a pulling nighmare) the canine friendly 3 in 1 vest harness and we love it. Molly is much easier to control and it is soft and doesn't grab tight around the neck. It is really easy to put on and doubles as a seat belt. It came with a nifty 4 ft reflecting leash.

Any reports on this new harness? My dogs do not pull, but I am always looking for something other than a collar for our walks b/c Rita's skin is very sensitive under her neck. Just wondering how it worked?

I am still waiting for the blessed thing!!!! The web site did indicate that there would be a wait. I imagine they've been pretty busy since that Whole Dog Journal article came out. Plus, over the weekend I was reading a fairly new book called "Feisty Fido" by Karen London and Patricia McConnell and they mentioned the Sense-ation harness also. Now that I have all this anticipation, I hope it doesn't suck. LOL One place where I'm anxious to try it is when I take Lucy on her therapy dog visits. Once she sees that we're at the building, she drags me inside and there is no stopping her. I'm sure people who see us in the parking lot are thinking, "That's a therapy dog????"

Thanks for the quick reply. My 8 month old is going to go through the therapy dog test soon and do the CGC. I have the same problem though. He heels wonderfully except when he really wants to see someone. It is the part of his personality that will make him such a great therapy dog, but yet I am afraid he will not pass if he loves the examiners! HA Keep me posted!

Okay, kids, I received the new SENSE-ation harness from Soft Touch concepts and I'll let you know how it works on Lucy. The first step is fitting it correctly and I don't want to spend too much time fiddling with it until I'm actually going to take her for a walk.
