Here is our story

Hi everyone. Thank you for the warm welcome.

As we said we are in Washington. Deer Park to be exact. We are long time Boxer lovers. Our dog’s name is Buck. He is a 4 or 5 year old Fawn named Buck. We rescued him from severe abuse. His prior owner beat him, tried to freeze and starve him to death, and also threw battery acid on him. After lots of love and nurturing we put on 20 pounds of muscle. He was the most wonderful, well-mannered dog I have ever owned. He never left our sides.

Until the Saturday before Easter this year we were one big happy family. He got into a fight with our neighbor’s dog. We got them separated, and Ryan went to scold Buck for fighting, and then we think that is when all of the abuse came back to him. He lunged out of my grasp and went right for Ryan’s throat. Luckily Ryan got his arm up to block his attack. Buck got a hold of Ryan’s arm and proceeded to shake. We got him off of Ryan, and then he went in for another attack. This time he got a hold of Ryan’s side. Our neighbor got a hold of Buck’s head, and then Ryan was able to pry his mouth open. Our neighbor took Ryan inside for treatment, and I was left holding Buck by the collar. Everything happened in about 30 to 45 seconds. I was in such shock that I didn’t know what to do. After I got a hold of Buck he sat down and acted like nothing had happened.

I led Buck home, washed the blood off of him and out of his mouth. I then put him on his chain and kissed and hugged him goodbye. I knew then, and I think he did too, that I would never look into those big brown eyes again. The hospital reported the attack and he was apprehended a vicious dog.

Ryan received 17 stitches in his arm, and had many bruises and minor abrasions. All of the cuts and bruises were nothing compared to our broken hearts. We had just lost a loved one. According to Ryan, he was glad that it was he and not I. He thinks that Buck could have killed me.

After some mourning of our lost buddy, we realized that we still are Boxer lovers and will always be Boxer lovers. What happened was not Buck’s fault. We feel that it was from all of the abuse he had received as a puppy. My sister-in-law explained it best when she put it this way to my 4-year-old Nephew, “No honey it was not Buck that attacked Ryan, it was and Alien dog that attacked him.” Now tell me how could you not laugh at that?

We hope to welcome a new addition to our family soon. We haven’t found he or she yet, but we are still looking. If anyone has any tips or leads on finding a new dog for us please let us know.

Thank you for reading our story. I hope that it touches you as much as Buck touched our lives.

welcome

so sorry to hear about your lose, but im thrilled to hear that it has not turned you off of the breed at all. As for your search for a new pup, rescue or a reputable breeder are the only ways to go. Have you gotten in contact with your local boxer clubs yet? Im sure they will be of great assistence in locating rescues and reputable breeders with litters. good luck! best wishes on finding your new baby!
