I have had my Boxer, Kobe, for one week. He is very stubborn and I could swear he gives me dirty looks whenever I disrupt his play or attempt to keep him from pouncing too ferociously upon my Chihuahua.
Kobe is a fawn male, almost 10 weeks old, with a very distinct personality and attitude - I love it. He is hard not to spoil, but I am trying to keep the upper hand.
I have been reading everything I can get my hands on and this site is an outstanding resource.
Any sites or recommended reading would be appreciated.
Have a great day/night.

Welcome to BW.

There are a number of useful resource/information books available. One in particular is The Culture Clash, written by Jean Donaldson. Also, any book by Stephanie Abraham will be great. She wrote, The Owner's Guide to the Boxer, which was actually our first book while we researced the breed. Then we read the Donaldson book. You should be able to locate either of these books and many more at your local bookstore or even on-line.

Best of luck and again, welcome to the board. Can't wait to see some pictures of Kobe (that happens to be the name of one of our girl's littermates BUT he lives in Washington). :)

Hi and welcome :)
Your pup is so small, I doubt he gives you "dirty looks" at all because all he wants now is play, eat and sleep. He is a sweet little baby yet but he is a boxer so he's very active and boisterous sometimes ;)
I am glad you have joined, you can plenty of useful information on this site. If you try the BW search engine I swear you will find answers to nearly all question you may ask about your puppy. If not, we are here to help whenever you need help.
Please share stories and pics of Kobe with us :)

Thank you for the kind words and suggestions - very helpful.
Now I just need to know how to get pictures of Kobe on the board. I was able to load some onto the photo gallery and I tried to upload on the forum page but it says "no pictures found" under keyword or user name.
Any help?
Thank you.

Hello and Welcome! I've been a member of this community for a week now and there is nothing but great information and wonderful people here. As for the uploading of photos, I had some trouble myself initially, but low and behold, with a little info from the members and trial and error, I got it figured out. Hope I can explain it to you well enough with confusing you or myself, but here goes...for a profile pic, the pic cannot exceed 64 pixels both in length and wide. Also, it needs to be either in .jpg or .gif format. In order to ensure your pic fits the criteria, go into your photo editor and pull up the pic. Go to resize, and resize the largest side (width or length) to 64 pixels. Your photo editor should maintain the ratio aspects on its own or you may need to turn this option on depending on your software. After you've done this, save the photo as either a ".jpg" or ".gif" file type. To do this, go to "File", then click "save as", when the save box appears, click the "save as type" and scroll until you find ".jpg" or ".gif" file type. Click the one you want and then "save" the pic in the location you want. Now, go to BoxerWorld, sign in, and go to your "user cp" located at the top of the page. Go to edit options, turn on your avatars and post the pic you just edited into your profile. Sounds complicated but it really isn't once you get going. Now, in order to post to the galleries, the pic mustn't exceed 400 pixels both in width and length, and must be a ".jpg" or ".gif" file type. Edit the pics same as above for profile only difference being the when you resize the pic the largest pixel either in length or width must be 400 pixels or less. Everything else is the same, and then should be allowed to post in the galleries. Hope this hasn't confused you but has helped you and works for you, it worked for me! Again, Welcome to you and Kobe!

Ken,

There is no 400 pixels limit.

Max allowable image width in pixels is 760.
Max allowable image height in pixels is 1000.

You can see many pictures that are over 400 pixels, like at my gallery at http://www.boxerworld.com/cgi-bin/photo/index.pl?cat=500&user=15&thumb=1 or here is another sample of a photo of 757x615 pixels: http://www.boxerworld.com/cgi-bin/photo/index.pl?photo=248

The only thing the script will do if your picture is over 640 pixels is to create two pictures: one limited to 640 pixels and another one bigger (its original size or 760 pixels if it was bigger) like at http://www.boxerworld.com/cgi-bin/photo/index.pl?photo=248 where you can see "View Larger Image".

Thanks friends; I think I got it.
I assume that if I go in and add more I will get the cool rotating picture option most of you seem to have?

No, you need to create an animated gif for it.
At http://www.tucows.com you can download some programs to make them.

Olly...sorry about the misinformation. Thanks for correcting it. For some reason, my pics wouldn't post until I "cropped" them down. I did see the pics where the pixels were greater than 400. Like I said, for some reason, it didn't work for me until I sized them down considerably. Anyway, hope all goes well for Kobe's pics. Thanks again Olly...
