We brought our new puppy home today!! Her name is Layla and boy are we nervous....its been 10 years since we had a new puppy in the house!! Didn't think we would ever get another dog after we had to put our last one to sleep last summer. But the house was too empty without a dog. So the adventure starts!!

colors?

We are really rookies at this so don't laugh!! Could someone please explain the terms used for the colors of boxers? ex.: flashy fawn, flashy brindle, etc.

Brindle vs. Fawn

brindle boxers are ones with black striping over the brown coloring they vary from very thin to almost a reverse brindle which is a dog that the black striping is heavier than the brown undertones. A Fawn boxer is anywhere from a light tan to a dark mahogany and does not have the black striping on the body. I own both and one of my brindles is a reverse. They are in my picture gallery if that helps any! And welcome to BoxerWorld~

Welcome!

It's great to see new boxer owners - hope you enjoy the site!
We got our little white girl, Caoimhe, a couple of years ago after having been without a dog for about 18 months. Our previous red boxer, Tessa, had to be put to sleep after a long and happy life but the house was too empty without a smiley, drooly face to greet us every day! We actually just went "to look" a puppies and weren't really intending to get one - but Caoimhe came over and sat on my knee, promptly fell asleep and we couldn't resist!!!!

Hiccups!!

Thanks for all the welcomes and help!! I think I am getting the hang of surfing around this site and have found tons of useful tips! Now for the question: Is it normal for boxer puppies to have hiccups? Our Layla gets them whenever she gets scared or excited. Her whole little body gets into it and it looks painful....poor baby.

Hi and welcome ! Yep,hiccups are pretty common. Mine used to get them all the time, the problem is that you know you should feel bad for them, but can't help but giggle at the same time as they look so pitiful.
