Hello from wet Fife, Scotland. We got our pup Chloe 2 weeks ago. She's 9 weeks old now and has settled in to our family. She didn't like sleeping downstairs at night and had me up 2 or 3 times a night.Ended up letting her sleep in our room.Problem solved!!House training coming along nicely but she hates going out in the rain.Because me and my hubby both work we got her a cage to go in. This was recommended to us by the breeder who uses one for his dog. Does anyone else use a cage to stop their boxer destroying the house?

Welcome! I can't help with the crate mine never went in one! The only thing they destroy is socks foolicon and I thought the washing machine ate them evilicon They sleep with us in the bed and also hate the rain!! Welcome again!!

welcome to boxer world. to answer your question about using a crate. alot of people use one. it is really good to crate train a boxer since they love to get into trouble. and get bored so easy.:)

Hi and welcome to BW! I've never used a crate either as we got Spud from rescue when he was eight months old, but I know a lot of people on here use them so you're sure to get lots of good advice. Sounds like your baby has you well trained already;) Spud occasionally lets us sleep in our kingsize bed too!

No crate now.

Duchess was crate trained as a puppy - she liked to chew anything leather! But she is almost 9 years old now, she hasn't been in a crate since she was about 3. She also sleeps in my king sized bed with me every night on her own side at the foot of the bed. She brings in a toy or chew bone of her choice to sleep with each night! She snores very loud sometime and occationally likes to sleep under the covers.

Welcome to BW. We crate trained our first when he was a puppy (about a week). The second wouldn't have anything to do with one. Fred loves his crate. It has been about 4 weeks. Now we just tell him to go to bed, and he goes in there no problem. The first few nights were tough though.
Good luck and welcome again.

Welcome to BW! Rufus has a crate and thank goodness he does! He is a typical boxer puppy and gets into everything. Because of their nosy nature, I would recommend a crate to anyone with a boxer pup. Congrats on the new baby and welcome again!

Welcome to Boxerworld. I think crates are a wonderful thing. I know there are people whose dogs do not think so, but my Killian loves his. He is 8 years old and I totally trust him out in the house, but he loves to get in his little "den", we leave the door open the majority of the time and he gets in it to rest. It is a safe secure place that is just for him. :) There are lots of posts about crates and ways to get them used to it. It is a good way to know your puppy (and your home) are safe if you are away. :)

Welcome from another newbie!

Hello! Welcome to BW! I am new here as well. This site is the greatest! My pup will be 9 wks tomorrow and she HATES the rain too! It rained for almost a week straight here and it set the potty training back a bit. We are using a crate also - working out well. It took her about a week to get used to it though. Good Luck!

Welcome

Hi, I'm also new here. Never used a crate, but I know Gunny is 2 now and still doesn't like to go out in the rain. A crate maybe a good idea because I do know how LONELY they get when they're alone! My new love seat could tell a few stories. Welcome but Boxer's are the only breed of dog to have, wonderful with kids too. Gunny sleeps with my 9 yr. old daughter or daddy and me. Erin and Gunny
