I am a newly registered user, but have been browsing this website ever since we got our Boxer. We rescued a tiny brindle female from the local pound and have been so happy ever since. "Cayenne" doesn't have any papers, but she is all Boxer through and through...and we can't get enough of her! Boxers are marvelous and it is apparant that everyone here agrees with me. Looking forward to meeting other Boxer parents!!!

Sorry, I left out some details!

Our Boxer baby is approximately 2 and 1/2 years old (natural ears). We got her from the pound in July 2003 and she has fit perfectly into our lives. The vet says that she is probably the runt of the litter since she is full grown at 45 pounds. A great lap dog for sure! When we rescued her she was a malnurished 38 pounds, but we have fattened her up since. ...can still feel the ribs so she isn't too fat! As soon as I figure out this site, I will post a photo. I love looking at all the pictures, especially the ones with floppy ears like yours!!!!!!

Help with jumping?

Thanks for all of the warm welcomes! My husband and I are thrilled to have such a loving dog in our family. It has been a joy to give her a good home after we rescued her. We knew a little bit about boxers prior to adopting ours and our ONLY annoyance is with Cayenne's jumping.......it is out of control at times. Being dog lovers we tolerate it to a point, but anytime we have visitors she goes wild. Any suggestions on breaking this habit? We experience a mild case of counter-jumping, but I don't mind that nearly as much. Cayenne just LOVES people and wants to jump in their faces all the time. Any tips???

Hi and welcome to BW!
Boxers are jumpers but you can train them! It takes time and a lot of hard work. If you search the forums you will find lots of great tips!

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I just finished sifting through the fountain of information on jumping in the forums and printed off some good tips. We'll be taking this seriously, as I am 6 and 1/2 months pregnant and I worry about my own belly being continually pounced on!!!!!!
