My brother brought home this 6 week old Blue Doberman Pinscher one night, He said that some lady was selling a whole litter at a Home Improvement place. He said that he couldn't leave this one female that kept looking at him with such a loveing look, that he couldn't resist her and had to save her. So now we have a New addition to the family. Never owing a doberman before I have no idea what to feed a Doberman puppy, can any one help and give me some idea's. My Vet said a large breed formula but all that food has corn and by-products and my Pet store lady said that the puppy would do just fine on Merrick (which is what I feed my 10 month old Boxer girl). Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have never owned a Dobie, so I dont have any advice for you. One of my best friends growing up had 2 of them though and they were great with us, always out playing having a blast--seems like they had a really loud bark but were good dogs. Enjoy the new puppy, I'm sure it'll be fun!

Dobermans too are considered large breed dogs, so I would assume if merrick is working for your boxer girl it would work for this little doberman addition to your family. Congrats to your brother on his new family member. I am sure your little girl would just love to show this one the ropes, sounds like lots of fun for both of the fur babies.

I wouldn't worry about it being a large breed puppy, just feed her the same food you are feeding your boxer and she should be ok.
I love Dobies. They are so sweet but just like a boxer training and lots of socialization is in order. You don't want a shy or aggressive dobie. Get her out after she has all her shots and meet lots of different people and places and such. Also, a puppy class would be great. But most of all just enjoy her. Puppies are so cute but they grow up so fast. :)

I've got a dobe, he's currently 8 months old.

As far as what to feed them, Merrick is fine. I've got mine on Canidae, but once it gets low I'm switching him to Timberwolf Organics.

Thank you everyone, I just became nervous due to what my Vet said I should do with this breed. I don't what a Doberman with joint pain due to my ignorance. Because she has grown so fast already. Thanks Again.

i have both a 17 week old boxer and a 14 week dobe. the dobe shot up right past him. last week the boxer weighed in at 28-29 pounds and the dobe weighed in at 35. a healthy dobe should weigh in at least 20 pounds by 12 weeks. my bubba(boxer) ears are natuural and my dobes (moejoe) ears are cropped. hes done with the taping but one of his ear has a curl in at the tip. my wife says leave it its just his look. mine are both on chicken soup adult. i just feed what the puppy food recomends by weight.both look well but my boxer is so finigy when it comes to food he ll skip a meal or two. mojoe would eat forever if i gave him the chance. the dobe is very eager to please. i say down and the floor thuds. always make the dobe work for what he gets. its helps with there attitude plus they enjoy it. they love affection just make it on your terms. have fun.

I'm not sure what you mean by "too", since Boxers are a medium-sized breed?

Your new Doberman pup will be fine on the Merrick (all stages) that you are feeding your Boxer pup. Everything listed at www.boxerworld.com/feeding applies to kibble for any breed, not just Boxers ;)
