I am deployed to Iraq, and we have a 7wk old baby at home. My wife put one of my old army t-shirts in Rocky's bed so my smell would be familure to him, he carries it around the house like Linus, off of Charlie Brown. He sleeps with it and uses it as a blanket when he lays on the floor. Does anyone have any more suggestions about what we can do, so when i get home I will not be such a stranger to Him, as he is already a Momma's boy?

First of all, stay safe! The only thing I can think of is to tape your voice saying his name and maybe a feel commands so that your vocie is familar to him.

Come back home safe and soon!

There are toys that have voice recorders in them. I got one for Bailey when he had to stay at my parents' house for the summer. My parents said he pushed it into everything so he could hear me say, "Hey Bailey. It's your mommy!" I'm sure he'll be very happy to see you when you get home. Be careful and thank you for serving our country!

The shirt and the voice are both great ideas! Whenever you call home, have your wife put the phone up to Rocky's ear and talk to him-just like you do with your kids! My DH is a truck driver and didn't even meet Ty the first week he was home, and he comes and goes a lot, so we were unsure about how accepting Tyler would be with him. I think these smart babies just know who Daddy is-Ty treated Michael just like he did me and our 3 year old daughter. I'm sure he fed some off Haley and me-of course, Daddy gets lots of hugs and kisses when he gets home and Ty wants to be right in the middle. I'm sure that Rocky will be right in the middle of your homecoming, ready to welcome his Daddy home! Good luck and stay safe!!

Before messages like that go any further, I'd like to remind everyone that this is an international community - not a country-specific one. It is also a boxer site.

From the Rules:

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I just thought since the previous poster had said something about staying safe that I'd follow suit. I will remember the rules about such discussions in the future!

I got a dog once when the hubby was deployed to Bosnia. He did fairly well when the hubby came home. It did take a couple of weeks for him to get used to having a guy in the house but he accepted the hubby well since my daughter and I did. Oh the only bad part was the dog was upset he lost his spot in the bed. We didn't do anything to get him used to his voice or smell. He just came home one day.
