Tobee had the internal sutures when he got neutered. I did not use the cone. He did lick alot, but never opened then. I think it took him about 14 days to feel better. He was very groggy and tired for about three days, and then started to do better. I did not like the internal sutures, but I guess they worked out.

Worst case senario!! We did board our boxer Buster (rainbow bridge) when he was neutered. We told them and they kept an eye on him. It worked well, just another suggestion. Also you shouldn't have to be as careful after the first few days. As long as he's crated when your gone and watched when you are home and can't get to the incision, there should not be a problem.

I personally think the younger they are the quicker they recover... One word about the e-collar, is our boxer could usually get past it, even when it was the right size. It was silly.

RE: cost

I don't know if there's a different in price between regular and lazer surgery, Ruby was neutered the regular way with the incisional glue for his stiches. It cost $145, I was told it depended on the weight of the dog, he was 63 lb back then.

Oh ok, that's not bad at all. I was thinking ot have it done would be a few hundred dollars.. LOL

We go on the 28th for our first vet appointment and she said it would cost about $40-50 for the first visit with stool sample and stuff. I'm so new to this dog thing I have no clue what things actually cost.

$40-$50 sounds pretty reasonable, my vet charge a $32 fee for a visit and plus whatever shots he's getting. Oh don't worry, you'll be spending pretty pennies on these furbabies, especially if you're one of those "worry mommy" like me

Prices..

Our vet visit is $25. and I think theys aid $14 for a shot and $10 for a stool sample.

I don't mind paying the money. I'm now just more worried about the whole puppy mill thing.. LOL

Check into low cost spay and neutering clinics and programs. We had Lexi spayed with a laser for about $90. We had a laser neuter done for $75. We have a clinic in my area that only does spays and neuters and for a 55lb dog it is $55 although I don't think they use laser. Look up low cost spay/neuter on the internet and you should find something in your area. We used Spay Inc. and got to use our own vet. They gave us a control number that we supplied to our vet (they were participants of the program) and that is how we got the discount! There are alot of great programs out there that many don't know about. Good luck!
