Aimee is my beloved boxer who will turn 5 years old in April 2012. Yesterday, we left her together with her brother (Charlie) and sister (Bambam) while we went for Massage. When we got back we found here in the Kitchen and she can't move her lower limbs !!! That was a matter of two hours.

We rushed her to the hospital and the doctors tried to test her nerves and there was totally no response on her lower body. A nerve and neuro specialist is now checking on her and they said that there are several possible reasons for this sudden paralysis ...

1. Could be that there is some blocked vein in her spinal cord and will only need some medication to reduce the inflammation.
2. It could be a pinched nerve where it can be medicated or go for surgery

Tonight she is going for MRI and we will know the results .... Am really praying to God that its the blocked vein and nothing serious ... Seeing my baby dragging her lower body was such a painful sight for me. I have been crying since last night and I can't even concentrate on work ... Am just thinking about her ...

Has there anyone experienced this before? Any ideas ? Advice ?

We are living in Bangkok, Thailand.

Appreciate your feedback so much.

So sorry to hear that Amie going through this. I haven't had any experience of this with my dogs, but I have with my cat. Mischief was 15. We came home and found him lying at the bottom of the basement stairs. He never went into the basement. His hind end was paralyzed also. We took him to the vet and for him there was nothing they could do. He was in tremendous pain because he couldn't even pee. There was a blood clot on his spinal cord, there was nothing they could do. We had to put him to sleep.

I hope that whatever is going on with Amie, that it can be fixed soon. Sending out some boxer vibes that Amie gets better soon.

Sorry to read this , lets hope its a blocked vein.
Keep us posted.

Just got the news ... Its a blocked vein ....

They have started giving her the meds to reduce the inflammation in the area ... After 3 days of medication and Aimee shows any sign of sensation then the 20% chance of her walking again goes up. Else that 20% goes down and the prognosis is still bad for her ...

Please help me pray and send those good energy vibes to her even in spirit so she can fight off this dreaded illness ...

I am still scared so much on what will happen on Thursday ...

Thank you all for your positive vibes ...

Just a few updates ...

Last night, me and my husband went and visited her ... this time we went in to really hug her ... I can feel that she feels so relieved to really see that we haven't left her to strangers ...

Her lower limbs still has no feelings ... but the good thing is she can poop on her own (no need for special measures to do that) ... we havent tried for the pee as the catheter is still attached to her.

Last night as the nurse was trying to get her temp and inserted the thermometer up in her anus .. her tail actually moved and this is what my hubby saw ... I asked the doctor to try it and see if its true or just a trick of the eye and she confirmed this ...

Now she still cannot give us an opinion if that tail movement is a good sign for walking but she did confirm its a good sign for bowel movement.

Today is our D-Day ... We will know if she will be able to walk again tonight ... the wait is killing me and my husband ... we have been crying almost every night over this and cannot get any sleep thinking about our baby ...

Your positive vibes and prayers are still needed my boxer loving friends ... I will keep you all posted on the results when I can ....

Am still crossing my fingers that its a good news we will hear tonight ...

Still Worried Sick,
