Nemo's had his ears cropped

Drove about four hours to get Nemo's ears cropped by Dr. Truesdale in Seekouk, MA (border of RI). Nemo slept all the way there, only waking up when I stopped to offer him a chance to relieve himself. Dropped Nemo off around 10:30am, and picked up around 3pm. The anesthesia was wearing off, but his was still woozy and couldn't walk straight. Needless to say, he slept the whole ride back.
I've noticed however, that Nemo is not himself. When we go out so that he can potty, he'll pee then I begin to take a few paces down the street to his favourite poop spot, but he'll just sit and pretend to be an anchor. He won't budge, and he won't come when called. Even Treats have a 50/50 chance of luring him now. If I head back into my apt, he'll walk no problem. While in the apartment, he doesn't play with his toys or really respond when we lure him. Past two days, he's just been sleeping a whole lot.
He doesn't mind being petted, scratched by us and even sleeps in our laps. He's eating normally also.

I've read that many people have found their puppies back to normal the same night - this has really been hard on us to have gone through the surgery (we're looking to show him) and I only want to make Nemo feel better. He's been spoiled with all sorts of treats and attention, but nothing seems to have raised his spirits.

Can anybody relate?

Every puppy is different. And, it also will depend on what type of pre-anesthetic and anesthetic was used.

It is probably best to just let him sleep and rest. If he is still acting funny tomorrow, you might give Dr. Truesdale a call.

My pups are usually up and feeling a little too good that evening.

Lady was an unhappy camper the first few days - she was physically okay but she was sure grumpy. She didn't want to wear the collar, she didn't want to have her ears cleaned, didn't want to sit still, etc.

After about a week, when everything was getting healed and we took the stitches out, she was much better. I just think that the first week is difficult - of course the next 6 months are no picnic either. Also, part of the healing process is sleeping, and Nemo is only a puppy, so the extra sleeping is part of the deal. I wouldn't worry. Good luck Mariah.

When Krose's tail was cutting operation, sorry for the lack of words I didn't know how else to say it scientifically:D, he was not himself for a few days. He was walking fine, eating fine but sure was not fine in some ways. That was the first time I gave put a blanket onhim and he pulled it more with his teeth!!! He was cold needless to say. Anyway, every puppy is different, I wouldn't worry about it for now unless this goes on for more than 4-5 days

Well the lil' guy is feeling better today. He's actually chewing on some of his treats and being a little more responsive, although he still likes to pretend being an anchor when I'm trying to walk him.

I hope by the time the stitches are ready to come out, he'll be back to his old self.
