Boxer Insane
I am really struggling here! One of my neighbors has a boxer that he keeps tied to a clothesline. I have talked to him before about taking care of her. He said he works long hours and he is keeping the dog for his daughter. The daughter wants to breed her (Ugh!) and she has had one heat so far.

No one has seen my neighbor since Friday. Lexus (the boxer) has been tied up without food since. We started feeding her on Sunday. Another neighbor has been feeding her too. She is so sweet. She is probably between 1-2 years old.

I don't know if I should call Animal Control. I worry about them putting her to sleep. I don't know if I should call Boxer Rescue. What I really want to do is bring her home with me. But I worry about 2 females. Bayleigh is 10 months and submissive. DH has said no to bringing her here at least til we could find a good home for her. No room, where would we put another crate plus have to buy another crate. If we kept her she would definately be spayed. I've got a spot for a crate, and I left a message at another neighbors who may have a crate I could borrow. ;)

I am seriously considering bringing her to our fenced in yard this afternoon to let her run and soak up some TLC. How much legal trouble would I get in if he came home? I know that probably wouldn't happen since we could get him for neglect & cruelty.

Help me, wise boxer friends. It is tearing me up looking out my window seeing her over there!

Definitely call Animal Control ASAP. They will likely take her at some point, but that doesn't mean they put her to sleep. They would hand her over to a shelter or rescue, and they will find her an appropriate home.

It's nice that you are feeding her, but I would really get her out of that situation as soon as possible. Plus, the owners need to be cited for that sort of neglect.

Oh my! I would keep feeding her and seriously consider calling a rescue..it isn't fair to keep her tied up...did he go out of town? If you take the dog and he comes back he can press trespassing charges..be careful..this is a toughy..a rescue can go on the property and take the dog..good luck and keep us posted...

I would call animal control and at least talk to them so there is some kind of record. FYI - "larcey" of a dog is a felony. If this daughter is stupid enough to leave her tied in the back yard and wants to breed her, although she'd have trouble making it stick, she could cause a lot of problems for you. I know that what you are doing is helping the dog, but this lunatic might not see it that way.

I would probably do the same thing (bring over to get some love and attention!) If you think neglect is involved definitely call animal control to get it on record!! You have a good spirit! Bless you for have a caring heart!

Make sure to let them know that another neighbor has been feeding her, too, so they can interview that neighbor and back up your story. Maybe you can talk them into being present when the animal control officer shows up, too, since they are obviously as concerned as you are.

Besides, even if animal control takes her, which hopefully they will do, they would put her up for adoption before putting her to sleep and you could step in at that point.

GREAT idea! I would call both animal control and your nearest boxer rescue.

What I would Do

I would bring her to your yard and wait till the guy gets back. Tell him you found her running loose in the street, and that if he isn't going to take care of her that you suggest he gives her up and that you will help find her a good home. If he is a jerk then tell him you have no choice but to call animal control. No dog should be treated like that.
