Needed advise for bad habits

My 3 1/2 month old is terrible when we are gone from the house. While at home he is perfect, no accidents, always goes outside to pee and poop, no chewing or destroying things. When we leave the house the little devil tears up jack!!!! His pee pad that we place down is shredded and then he pees in the floor instead of on the pad and anything that is in reach of him has been chewed on. Am I doing something wrong, or is he still at "that stage" that I am getting really short fused with?
Advise and tips greatly needed and appreciated !!!!

Puppies are 4 legged babies in a fur suit - they'll get into anything & everything since everything is so very, very interesting to them. He's doing the types of things a puppy would do at his age. I would suggest that you crate him when you need to be away from the house, this way he'll not trash the house or possibly hurt himself and it's easier to clean the crate tray of pee or poor than your floors. Put him in with a favorite toy and he'll amuse himself with this, or he'll use the opportunity to have a nap.

He is still so young

Oh, my he is still so very young. Any boxers that I have had the joy of raising really can't be trusted when left alone until they are almost 2 1/2 to 3 years of age. We just recently rescued a 18-month-old boxer and wouldn’t dare leave him unattended, not even for 15 minutes. He tries to be good but the temptations are to great...he is still a puppy. Each time I leave a puppy, I crate them. It should not be a punishment but a fun thing for the puppy. Deeg loves his crate...he will even take naps in it on his own. We leave the crate door open all day so that he can go in and out as he pleases. We close the door when we need him to be confined. Your puppy sounds very normal. I am sure you will find a lot of information on crate training to read about. At first I wasn't sure how I felt about crates but now after having experience it...crates are a blessing for puppies and the young teenager boxer. Crates mean peace of mind for us moms and dads. Good luck...puppies are so much fun but at the same time a big handful.

Crate him!!! Ours is 5 months..he tore up those peepads too... and is really good when we're around but if we're not paying attention to him and he's not sleeping watch out...I just posted this morning on another thread...I heard a thump downstairs...he unraveld a whole roll of papertowels and tore it apart. :rolleyes: and of course he was no where to be found!

Deeg and the carpet

lillys7...I enjoyed your posts. I read it after my 18-month-old boxer, Deeg, tried to shred our carpet tonight. I told him "bad boy, bad boy" and put him in the crate to think about his troubles. When I opened the crate, he went right back to the spot he chewed...so I shamed him..."bad boy, Deeg, bad boy, shame on you". After he tried to make up to me with his kisses, he rolled over on his back. Now, he won't even look at the spot in the carpet and guess what he is doing right this minute? Sleeping in his crate with the crate door wide open! LOL! He loves his crate....he is so cute. Crates are not suppose to be used for punishment. Our house is small which makes it super hard to put him in a safe spot for a "Time Out". We try to make the crate real fun for him when we are using it for his safety and our sanity. It must be working, as he still loves his crate.

Boy do I understand! Our Belle is 6 months old and has turned into a little hellion! Yesterday I came out of the shower to my bedroom "toilet papered". She was gleefully running around the room with the roll of toilet paper, happy as a lark, making a mess! She has gotten into things she knows she shouldn't!!

I was encouraged by Julie P. that there IS hope that someday she will possibly be able to be trusted (I can wait till she's 2 1/2 to 3 years of age!)
I love my Boxer baby Belle...and am finding this breed to be extremely fun!!

Hang in there...I'm being tested at every turn also!

Puppy hood

Definatly tries patience! Luka is 12 weeks and loves to chew leaves. He gets so distracted on walks, just attacking leaves. He is good about undertanding No... he instantly leaves whatever he is into alone. I guess that's the bright spot

i can see him doing it since niko has this fasination with kleenex.....

but niko has gotten so much better, we leave him out all nite......

started to leave him out when we go out for a few hours, the first time he went nuts and tore everything up.......

the second time was much better, only got the coaster set but didnt touch the garbage or anything else!!!!

im very proud of him, now if we can just get rid of the selective hearing............
