need tips on cleaning out crate

Does anyone know a good way to clean out my boxer's crate? He has peed in there quite a few times but is getting better about holding it. I cannot seem to get the urine odor out of his crate. I clean it out everytime he gets out of it and I have tried pet cleaners, cleaners with ammonia and vinager with water but the odor is still there! Any ideas??????

Maybe baking soda? I don't know about urine smell but it does get onion and garlic smell off my wooden cutting board.

The best method we've found for removing odors is to mix some baking soda with a bit of vinegar and a tiny bit of dish soap. Good luck.

I have found that a product called 'Nature's Miracle' works great, it's suppose to be the best odor remover at the pet stores. I've used it for years and have never had a problem of the smell returning.

When trying to remove pet odors do not use anything that contains ammonia. It will increase the odor and make it more difficult to remove.
The Natures Miracle is a great product, the natural enzymes help to naturally break down the protiens in the urine, hence eliminating the smell. The only downside to this is that it does take approx. 2 weeks for the enzymes to work, and increases the smell slightly while it is working.

If you are trying to rid the smell out of the bottom tray liner of the cage, it may be easier to just replace it. After urine seeps into plastic it is virtually impossible to remove the smell completely. Plastic is a porous substance and holds odors.

Is your crate plastic or metal? We have the metal one with the slide out bottom and usually only urine is on it(6wk old pup) and we take it to the bathtub and use hot water with dishsoap and for us it works excellent and there is no smell at all.
