For the last few days Atlas has been having problems with his left eye. It has been tearing and yesterday morning it was swollen shut. When I got off of work yesterday I took him to see Doc. Doc had to sedate him because Atlas does not like anyone to mess with his eyes or ears. Well Miss Sydney has scratched his cornea in two places. We went home with meds for his eye. Doc told me he wanted to see him next Tuesday. Wants to see if it is healing alright. If not he will have to stitch the third eye lid shut so it can heal. Please send my baby lots of healing vibes so he will not have to have his eye stitched shut. Thanks everyone. I feel so sorry for my boy. You can tell he is in pain,he is not eating very well. I think when I get off of work today I am going to bring him home a plain cheeseburger.

Poor baby!
Well I have some personal experience to share with you.
A couple of years ago my own girl scratched my cornea resulting in a trip to urgent care.
It was SOOO painful however they put a numbing drop in my eye and it was instant relief. I tried to bribe the doc to write me a script for those drops but he refused! The relief was short lived (until I got out in the parking lot).
I got antibiotics drops to ward off any infection.
Luckily the eyes heal VERY quickly and the pain subsided more and more with each passing hour.
Of course I knew not to keep rubbing it unlike our babies who just want to fix it themselves with their paws. I was much better by the next day.

2nd experience was with one of my own dogs who had his cornea scratched by a cousins Capuchin monkey years ago. The vet stitched up his eye. The stitches remained in for about 3-4 days. Once it was stitched up he didn't bother messing with it any longer and it was able to heal without any negative effects. Once the stitches came out he was perfectly fine.

Make sure to keep a close eye on him (pardon the pun) so that he doesn't keep irritating it himself. I'm sure he will be good as new on Tuesday when you go for the recheck!

Poor Atlas. Went thru a scratched eye with my Mr. Blake. It was very painful for him, but did heal up with drops and no stitching of the eyelid. Sending out loads of healing vibes to Atlas for a quick stitch-free recovery. BTW, plain cheeseburgers make everything a little better!

My BIL's English Bulldog had a scratched cornea also. His was a result of entropia, but they gave him drops and he had surgery for his entropia and now he is just fine.
Sending healing vibes to Atlas too!

Oh poor guy! That is so painful for him! That happened to Roxy once but luckily with patience it healed. They thought they might have to do a surgery but thank goodness they didn't. Lots of vibes for your boy.
