Need Home For My Boxer

Hi everyone. I'm new here and need your help. I have a male Boxer that will be 12 yrs old on April 10th. I recently got divorced and need to find a good home for him. I am living with my Mom and can't keep him. Every place I look at to rent won't allow pets. I love him very much and don't want to give him up but I have no other choice right now. He is a good dog. A little stubborn but other wise a good dog. His name is Dreyfuss. I want him to have a happy life with a Boxer lover. This really breaks my heart but I have to do this. The only way I can keep from doing this is if I find a place in the next month that I can buy or that will allow pets. So I'm posting this now to see what response I get so I will know what to do. Only problem he really has is a little stiffness in his hide legs and a couple bad teeth. He is not a picky eater. Gets regular baths. Did miss his yearly checkup last year because of my divorce. Like I said I am just posting now to see if anyone might be interested in my baby.

Sorry to hear about your problems. The best suggestion I can give you is to offer to put a pet deposit down, and explain to them that he is an older dog. The older dogs are, the harder it is to find a home for them.

If you can not possibly find a place to live that will allow pets with a deposit, I suggest contacting your local boxer rescue group, and let them help you on placement.

I'm very sorry to hear about your situation...I hope you and Dreyfuss will be able to find a place to live together before you have to give him up.

If you've exhausted all of your options, please contact Central Kentucky Boxer Rescue. CKBR covers Kentucky and WV...we adopted our Minnie from CKBR about two years ago. Again, I really hope you won't have to give up Dreyfuss. He's given you everything for the past 8 years and i'm sure he loves you very much. Maybe your local humane society will know of some dog-friendly rental housing in your area. You might even consider placing an ad in the classifieds of your local paper asking for an apartment that will allow one *very well behaved* older dog. It's also possible that the rescue organizations may have some contacts in your area (they reach out and touch alot of people through adoptions etc.) that may know where you can find some dog-friendly housing.

also, you may want to get a list of referrals by people that know dreyfuss (his vet, trainer, etc) that will encourage people to allowing your dreyfuss into their apartment complex.

We are adopting Dreyfuss

For those of you interested, Dreyfuss will be coming to live with us on March 15th. I am so excited. He is a great looking boy and we are very happy to have him join our family to live out the rest of his life.

You need to check with your State office(s) regarding what is required by law for transporting a dog across state lines.

Normally, a dog must be current on Rabies plus travel with a health certificate. The health certificate would be issued by my94teg's vet.
