How did they explain her weight though?
Did they say how she came to be wandering with no collar or tags?
Also, how did they explain the scars?
I found her owners by calling the vet.
Did the vet mention she was on chemo?

I'm sure your gut must have told you they were telling the truth.

I think its great that you took her in the way you did. You probably saved her from getting hurt out there on her own. Im sure the owners were very grateful and will be more careful now. It must have been very hard to give her back.

I would do the same thing you are doing too.
A word of advice though, you say you found a vet who would not say anything, well then maybe he will check to see if she is microchipped and if she is he can remove it, then if the owners or someone they know see her there will be no positive way of identifying her. I know her abusive owners live in another county but it is a small world. I don't mean to sound negative but there is no sense in taking chances for yourself or for Abby.

Good luck;)

They bought her when she was about 6 months. They bought her from an abuse home. The reason she was so skinny is because she is on Chemo. The vet I called was not her vet just one of the vets in the town that they live in. Gidget told me that she had seen posters of her( the boxer) today at the store. They said that they are going to come to are Boxer bash. Now I want another boxer.:D  :D
