Hello, i had a question, one of my friends gave me a boxer that he had. he said that it has not have his rabies shot for couple of months now, and that he is not taking anything for the heart worms either. He gave it to me for a personal reason and couldn't take care of him any more. He says that the dog seems fine, that he eats okay, and his attitude hasn't change. So i was wondering if this could harm my other boxers that i have at home? And is everything okay with the dog? i do not want to risk the health of my other boxers. thank you

You should take him to the vet & have him tested for heartworms. Hopefully he is negative & you can start on prevention meds. As I’m sure you know heart worms are common in TX. You should also get him up to date on his shots (Rabies is usually given every three years). As far as your other dogs are concerned it doesn’t sound like there is any thing that would put them at risk.
