She *is* very happy (much to my ego's dismay, LOL). My mother tells me she's been acting her normal happy self, eating well, etc. She had visited my Mom's house (on top of seeing my Mom pretty often) so we figure that's what helped the transition. By the sounds of it, she doesn't miss us at all.
And Mom and is happy, and she's getting lots of walks and car rides so that's good. Hopefully it continues to go this well! 
As for the remaining one - I think she is happier too. She actually hasn't been making strange at all. We've moved her crate to a more central place in the house so that she could see out the window, etc. when we are at work. We also have SO much more time for her now too. We also have an older Golden Retriever so having just the two, rather than three, is permitting us to do a lot more with them (two can fit in a car, easy to take two dogs for a walk, etc.) Hopefully our remaining Boxer, Reese, will come out of her shell a bit. She's always been quiet and laid back and her sister was always the lead on everything. Reese doesn't even know how to play with a ball since her sister never let her have it! :o We are working on that.
And while she always got cuddle time, it's even better now since she can get the best spot on the couch, the bed, and specially - on our lap. :DThe house in general has been less chaotic and I'm actually welcoming the change. It's SO much easier to handle. While I miss Ruby, I'm VERY happy with the decision and would do it all over again. Things are so much better this way.
Hey sorry to hear your females are fighting. I had the same problem but with two males. At first it was OK but as Sammy my mixed breed dog got a little older he and Rufus started fighting. Actually Rufus got the bad end of the deal and had to go in for stitches.
I ended up rehoming Sam with a very nice retired couple on 60 acres. Sammy's job is following the tractor every day. He waits faithfully by it in the morning and is very happy. He also is quite good at keeping the coyotes and wild dogs away.
He does have a cat that he is close friends with (they both sometimes sleep in cardboard boxes together).
Rufus and my female Roxy are the best of friends and have never gotten into a fight. From personal experience I find that is usually the best combo. Same sex combos can sometimes be difficult.
It is a little sad, my children ask about Sam still and it has been 2 yrs but I know it was for the best.

I hate to sound like a broken record here but I lived through the same situation myself. At that point I was not as internet savvy and had no clue that it was the female/female issue. Eventually we had to crate swap (or keep them totally separated) for about 2 years. I am one of the lucky ones who didn’t have a fight to the death during this terrible time. And for the past year and a half my two have been relatively good together. However, I will never again have 2 females in our house. My two grew up together (we got the 2nd one when she was a puppy). But when she reached about 2 years it was on….. I know how heart breaking it is to think of re-homing one of your girls, but I also know how stressful it is for you to live on the edge from here on. Jumping out of your seat at every “odd” noise just to make sure every one is still separated. Heck, I still do that with mine. This morning they were acting funny and it got my heart racing. And, as I said they have been pretty good together for the past while. I wish I had been more educated when we brought home our 2nd puppy. Maybe we could have avoided this all together.
